He was entertaining and game. Based on those merits his stock will rise. However, Jennings already exposed him and Mollo a club level brawler fought him close, so don't expect him to perform well against elite heavies. If anything this only demonstrates Wilder's flaws.
You could also say he was 9 minutes away from out boxing the champ. He is young maybe he gets 1 more shot.
His stock rose in the sense that promoters now want to have him on their cards. He will drop in the rankings, sure, but he can still make decent coin based on that showing.
Good point. He can fatten up any card by bringing out the Polish Legion of fans which guarantees a successful event. I think if he is still relevant he has drawing power. Maybe they can build him up again for another shot. Yet to be seen. I hope they use Barclays again for big cards. It seemed to work very well.
This. Szpilka did a good job avoiding Wilder's right hand for several rounds until he decided to run straight into it.
I've rarely seen a fighter leave himself so amateurishly open and invite a KO punch the way Szpilka did at the end. There's carelessness, and there's sheer stupidity. He just seemed to lunge in and tilt his jaw towards Wilder's right. Wilder didn't even have to be particularly fast with it, it was a gaping hole of an opening.
