Manny was 146 in ring with Marquez at Super Feather.

The myth that Manny is a small guy doing miracles is a strange one.

The entire challenge in moving up in weight is the fact that you errr, are going to face bigger heavier people?!

If Duran moved up to 160 and told Hagler he'd have to weigh in at 155, he'd have been laughed out of the sport.

There's no honour in moving into another guy's weight, and making him come down to make it easier

Floyd fought Marquez at a catch weight and then still came in a few lbs over the contracted weight! At least Pacquiao is fighting catch weight fights against larger opponents and not smaller opponents. If Floyd just had some balls; Pacquiao would be fighting him at 147!

If you're moving up in weight, and challenging a man for a world title in his weight division, you fight at that weight!?

The entire challenge of moving up divisions is the simple fact that the odds of you winning become less and less.

If Manny wants to fight guys weighing 149, then fight in none title fights, against welterweights.

You just don't get the point.

The entire issue about fighting for a world title at 154 is the fact that you're going to be facing a guy a heck of a lot taller than you, and a heck of a lot heavier than you.

Ducking that challenge, by demanding catchweights is your own perogative.

 

Though I do agree with what you said, I dont hang Manny for having Cotto come down to 145 simply because that is a realistic weight for Miguel... Sorry but in that fight I have no issues with that catch weight, and I am a fan of Cotto...
However I do agree with what your saying this fight should have no catch weight especially if he wants to alter history which is what is going to happen here.

Sure Manny started at a much lower weight but at the same time I beleive he started boxing before he was legally allowed to buy smokes in this country.... Correct me if I am wrong there....

 

That's similar to how they got Cotto's title on the line when they fought...so it wouldn't surprise me.
