Imn just thinking whether he would of been shot when scheduled to fight felix in summer 1997 or did he get shot on that night. thoughts?
I'm not sure about Terry. However, this is definitely what transpired with Cleveland Williams, I think.
He just didn't really want to do it anymore, lost the hunger/passion for it. A big fight may have seen him rise to the occasion though
I think with Norris, he had some great skills. But I also feel early on he kept that chin a well hidden secret. Once it started to get reached, his brief run was over. I think the chin as always his achilles heel. That really started to show itself as his skills started to fade. Scary to think what would have happened to him if the fight with Tito got made...
Just go and watch his legs. Blot out the top half of his torso and just watch those legs of his. From the waist up he was ok but the waist down he sure wasn't and that balance was gone. He managed to make a few more defenses, but the clock was ticking and he was going to licked.
I read a very sad article on him... He had been retired for a while and he was training for a comeback. They had the meeting with the athletic commision,and they played a tape of him talking after one of his title defenses. Then they had him get up to speak with the board. They said there wasn`t a dry eye in the place... His speech had become so garbled, clearly signs of too many punches taken. And here he was trying to get a license Somebody needs to put a stop to RJJ now ! It`s sad to see these great warriors, end up this way...
