Did the Americans cry so loud and long when Calzaghe got SD over Hopkins?

Calzaghe was around the same odds to beat Hopkins as Froch was to beat Dirrell.

Calzaghe may have actually been a bigger favourite to win his fight.

Joe was supposed to win that fight at a canter, Hopkin's made it a very hard night.

    both close fights.
Difference is Calzaghe deserved the nod and got it. Dirrell deserved the nod and didn't get it. A SD either way in both fights though can't really be argued. And both should have been rematched. Obviously the Dirrell - Froch one isn't possible due to the tournament context.

The other difference between the two is Calzaghe's work rate and speed, thats the main difference between the fights for me.

The Calzaghe/Hopkins fight was definitely a lot closer and disputable, imo.

    Not 100% sure mate no.

The poll results are right though, about 80% of people picked Joe in the week after the fight.

There always is. Hopkins was effective early on but then spoiled his way through the fight. A dreadful fight to watch - agonisingly dull.

People have a tendency to over hype how "bad" a fight was. It really wasn't that bad to watch; there have been worse involving the same fighters against different opponents.

Someone still brings it up every couple of weeks. Personally I though Calzaghe won it pretty comfortably. Still, Calzaghe was the away fighter that time so that has to take some of the sting out of the robbery claims.

How can you over hype how BAD a fight is?

It was a very bad fight. Not the worst I've seen, but it was awful.

If you have the time to watch the fight again, and the inclination, I'd be interested to see your card :good

Because a large majority of people on here are sheep and also ignorant, incapable of forming their own opinion or too scared to voice it.

I've watched it fives times (I think) in total. Doing a score card now would be pointless as I've had too much time to consider it.
