Apart from the very embarrassing booing of the USA Anthem which has already been discussed at length in various threads

Good point. I was worried that it might've got nasty if Hatton lost, 25,000 drunk angry football hooligans tearing round Vegas would've been awful.

I heard they had to close a lot of the bars though because the atmosphere was getting very aggressive.

A friend of mine was at McMullen's (Irish Pub) and one of the british guys pulls out a knife on somebody over the loss. My friend decides to leave really quick. As long as the Brits have fun and spend money, Vegas will welcome them back.

They aren't the NBA crowd that ransacked Vegas this past All-Star game. You won't see that game here in Vegas ever again.

that was a disgraceful event with all the shootings that occured. pacman jones shooting up that strip club, happened during the allstar game right? the brits probably helped the city during the weekend with all the shopping and spending in vegas.

Can't recall if Pacman Jones did it during the NBA break. 38 dine and dashers alone at my sister's restaraunt. Absolutely pathetic. Tons of horror stories that people on the strip can tell you more about that weekend.

In Vegas, you better spend and you better Tip otherwise you will get the sh*t treatment that you're used to getting at home. Vegas is a tipping town, the NBA vegas crowd is worse than the NFR rodeo crowd that comes every December.

We'll probably get an NBA team in the future, but an All-Star event?? NEVER AGAIN...

    No.

Throwing a few burning tyres and smashing some windows barely constitutes a riot.

In the old days when certain football hooligans came to town, you either got indoors, made it clear you weren't a fan of the other team and didn't want trouble...or got beaten into hopsital.

I'm not proud of this, but have a watch of this and tell me you reckon the police in the US could control it. Back in the 80s it was 10x worse.

Also worth remembering that it's quite natural in Europe for the cities hosting large football matches to keep alcohol under control on match-days as a result of the 80's.

Depends what you call normal 'boxing fans'.

Some US fans on here have already started numerous threads complaining about the beer drinking, football hoolligans which follow Ricky Hatton.

They're not all football hooligans, but I'd imagine some of the lads I've seen in the crowd on the telly, shaven heads, designer shirts etc., would be likely to kick off if any yank told them what to do or where to go.

What are these LA riots then.

This happened in another country in Germany 2006. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyMc-a0yGIE&feature=related

From what I gather, the LA riots were about race - not loosely aligned with sports. I don't see how english boxing fans and the blacks of LA are comparable whatsoever.

And look at Alan Minter v Marvin Hagler - just an example where boxing fans can kick off.

1994's Nigel Benn v Juan Carlos Giminez - probably the worst violence I've seen at a fight.

If England had made it to the 94 World Cup, the organizers were planning to make their games based in Detroit...there would have been NO trouble cause of those hooligans would have been sorted out proper up there:hey
