Yes the fans did make it more exciting which is a good thing. After watching the fight a few times its pretty obvios Ricky is getting a beating from round 2 onwards but the crowd makes it feel as though he is in the fight.

Definitely. In reality it was a horribly one sided fight.

Your point would have been illustrated better if the people in the video hadn't been singing a football song :patsch

It's nothing personal, we boo every nation anthem be it boxing or football or any sport.

The british fans abroad (the Hatton ones anyway) make me cringe. Half of them in the Mayweather fight probably don't know boxing at all they were just over there for one big **** up and to sing those ridiculous footy chants.

Twats the majority of them are and that's coming from a brit.

Booing the anthem was demonstrating a distinct lack of class. By all means boo Mayweather's ring entrance and during the fight but not the anthem.

Yep, I found that very offputting... and I'm the kind of guy that usually doesn't give much of a crap whether a crowd boos or not, but to boo the anthem? ****ing classless Brits. :verysad

And going back to the original theme, yes, the crowd brought a much more enthusiastic atmosphere to the fight than it really deserved. Then again they've always done that when Hatton is concerned. At times even calling him as exciting as Tyson was in prime. Pfffft, Hatton doesn't hold a candle to Tyson as far as excitment value is concerned. Have a few less clinches in a fight and then maybe he could have a decent case for such an absurd claim.

calzaghe fans in vegas for hopkins were a carbon copy of those fans you describe.
I was there and saw them with my own eyes.
