I've always liked humble fighters more than brash arrogant fighters, and I still do. I thought Maywhether was a cocky, arrogant ******* and he was a really dull fighter. Not that I didn't think he had skills, but he would rather pop-shot and block his way to a boring decision.

Honestly though I think I understand his point of view now. I'm Mexican and I still prefer aggressive humble fighters, but last night changed my opinion of Floyd. I was watching the fight with some buddies on my college wrestling team. One of them is a former Navy medic and invited a few of his military buddies. So basically I was surrounded by mostly white faces. One of them asks me who I was rooting for and I said who do you think?
He tells me I dunno you're in the middle. And I respond in the middle of what? He tells me in the middle of white and black. I told him I'm not in the middle, I'm Mexican, I'm not half black, half white. Well another guy responds, well he's Mexican, ask him who goes to the body. And I respond Hatton, and I replied that is who I want to win.
The group I'm hanging out with continues on with racist black jokes. Right before the fight starts the one who had been asking me questions raises his fist and says "Tonight we take back boxing." and points to me "Tonight you're white." "After this fight is over you're going to hear the loudest White Power you've ever heard."

So what you should all understand is that everything was said in jest, but jokes are usually a clue to what's going on inside. They still respect black athletes and have black and minority friends, but there was still a negative attitude stemming from the inside I didn't agree with. And it's that same social attitude that I'm sure makes Floyd run his mouth. It's like a statement, I'm here, and I'm the best and you're not gonna take that away from me. And in this U.S. society it's one of the best attitudes to have to make it to the top, and it's unfortunate attitudes created by hidden/condecending racist attitudes.

Floyd, you gained my respect last night because you delivered your best and hit with tenacity. I respect your decision to turn towards promoting because I didn't like most of your fights, haha, but would have loved to seen you fought Cotto. Retire from boxing and don't let boxing retire you! Live with the undefeated record and your health. You proved your legacy to who matters, not the boxing historians/fans that want more out of you, but your family and friends! :thumbsup
