i'm open to being corrected here...

did the ibf stip mallinaggi of his light-welter belt because he had signed to fight ricky hatton ?

if so, was that not an awfully huge mistake by the ibf, missing out on being part of one of the biggest fights in years in hatton v manny ??

They DID take his title because he was fighting someone other than who they thought was the most deserving opponent (herman Ngoudjo). A fighter that he already beat.
Even despite Malignaggi's open willingness to fight whoever they wanted after Hatton. It just doesn't make sense to me either... they get a percent of the purse... wouldn't a Hatton purse be better than a Ngoudjo purse for them???

In existing? Yes, they made a terrible mistake by doing that.
