I think Wlad busted him up physically and mentally. Even though he knocked Wlad down, he couldn't get rid of him. And every single time, Wlad would get up and go right back to peppering him with the jab and straight right. Over and over again. When Wlad finally unleashed that left hook in round 11, it not only hurt Peter physically, it hurt Peter psychologically because up to that point, nobody had ever put him on ***** St. The man found out he was human after all. Some people can't handle the truth.

In order to ruin someone, shouldn't they have to have been good in the first place?
Ruining Peter...it's kind of like saying that Tyson ruined McNeely.

I don't think his power is overrated but just like I said he doesn't have the skills to use it properly. I believe if you give him a stationary target which allows him clean, flush shots he can KO about anybody. But the better the opposition the harder it becomes to land good shots and there goes the KO ratio for guys like Peter who can't throw a straight punch if their life depended on it.

yes both of those fights did damage and no one can convince me otherwise...both physically and mentally. Beatings have a bearing on a man and he took 12 rounds of punishment against wlad and 8 against Vit. That left hook in the 12th round really hurt him but it was the cumulative effect of 200+ punches landed that have a long-term effect. You can't let guys like the Klit bros hit u that much. There's only so much a man can take.

Think about it...he was 22 pounds less against Wlad than he will be against Chambers. Peter never showed the type of speed and determination again after the wlad fight.

U wonder what he's got left for tonight. So many questions....not looking good at all. This could be the last time we see Peter in a meaningful fight. :-(

I think Wvlad was a setback but one he needed that COULD HAVE taken him to the next level. I think after that fight we saw Peter try to refine his game technically a bit, instead of coming out clubbing. This was an encouraging sign at first as it showed his maturation process.

Looking back now, this wasn't the right move. Or rather, it was the right move, but not executed properly.

Sam doesn't have the ring experience. He's not going to get any better technically. He needs to go back to his main asset, the god given ability that got him here - power. Up to and including the Wvlad fight that's what he was all about, and it made him dangerous. Those clubbing shots gave him a punchers chance in ANY fight against ANY opponent. But by trying to become more technical, he managed to dwarf his ace in the hole.

Vitali killed him. No question there. And now coming in at 265 is a really bad sign. Unfortunately, I don't see him turning things around. We'll get some answers tonight.

Bottom line though - Sam ruined himself. Not the Klit brothers.

Yes, they did. But, he was over-rated for some time now. That Maskaev fight was a joke.

I'm convinced that the left hook Wladimir landed on Peter left permanent damage. His punch resistance and equilibrium have never been the same since.

He took massive punishment in both fights. However you guys seem to forget he had wlad floored three times...He wasnt exactly hammered in to the ground in that one.

Against vitali is a whole different story.

  13. Wlad didn't ruin Peter, Peter had him down 3 times, and it was an extremely competitive fight:deal some judges might have even dq'd Wlad for holding so much, and Peter went on to stop Oleg, and beat the hell out of Toney after that both 1 sided fight's:yep..
Peter is this eras version of Buster Douglas, win the title, make a lot of money then quit in a fight, and just stop giving a ****, and train on nachos and beer, and become a B HEAVYWEIGHT..

NO. it's just that he was never that good in the first place and he's lazy as hell, unwilling to stay in shape or hone his craft..

I'll have to disagree with the Buster comparison. It would have made more sense had he beaten Wvlad and then went downhill. And besides, didn't Buster drop off the face of the earth after his defeat to Holyfield?

Sam is still going but tonight we'll be interesting. He loses tonight and he's done.
