before the hopkins fight calzaghe had repeatedly said he would rather fight pavlik than jones but as soon as the fight finished the press hyped a roy jones fight so much that i can't help but think are the press to blame for his change in mind???

He probably realised there was more a risk of being beat by Pavlik, and he'd get a much bigger sum of dollar fighting Jones.

I actually think RJ would have the more adopted style to beat Calzaghe over Pavlik.

What changed his mind was seeing pavlik destroy his best sparring partner that he has good sparring sessions with, thats the only thing because right after that fight he started saying bull **** like pavlik is not ready. How can a guy not be ready when he has ko'ed top competition but joe him self wins close contraversal decisions not stopping anyone.

The Lockett fight might have had something to do with it, but not much. The turning point came after Pavlik/Taylor II. Before that Joe was hot on Pavlik's trail. Afterward, not so much.
