They have rules. They tell you exactly what you can take and what you can't. Ortiz's people didn't even have the sense to disclose it before the fight.

If an organization won't follow it's own rules what's the point of it being there?

I believe they made an acceptable consession by not banning Ortiz; in essence they are saying "Look, Ortiz, we think you MIGHT have been on these medications for your heart, therefore we will not suspend you, but we can't let you fight for a title."

That seems about perfect to me.

What happens here is that the WBC sends an approved physician to check him out. And if that physician does not find him to have some serious blood pressure condition that required those medications AND COULD NOT BE TREATED BY NON BANNED MEDICATIONS then he will be suspended from WBC competition for failing YET ANOTHER test for PEDs.

If it was his first offense he probably could have gotten a pass....considering it was medication for hypertension. That's not even a performance enhancer. I'm baffled it's banned unless it poses some kind of health risk to the fighter, which it may. But he's been caught with illegal PEDs that did act as a enhancement before so it's a situation where they needed to take this kind of action. Unfortunate
