As above, it's a 10 count. So, no. Even aside from that, how do you get to 14 seconds? This content is protected He hits the canvas at 5 seconds in and is back up at 15 seconds.
I wouldnt of complained if the ref hadnt of even bothered counting because it looked like he was talking to a dead man for 4 of them. But then Fury actually beat the count that he was hearing and actually took over the rest of the round and then got robbed on the cards of a clear win so the ref would of been wrong to just wave it off instead of count.
Felt a little long to me, but slow counts are not that uncommon. Most of the time they're slowed down a little bit. You don't really get pure 10 second counts. Refs also tend to slow down if they see a fighter getting up.
Its close but I think he did. What do you guys think? Does Wilder have a case for a late count? This content is protected
Yes. Look, Fury was clearly ok to continue.....and wanted to. The count is there to protect the fighter, and Fury didn't need protecting. Fury could've even taken more time when the ref asked him to take a walk....And he took a jog
He was up at the count of "9". And if you watch the video with a timer he's up at around 9 or 10 seconds from going down. It was a pretty accurate count. All this talk of an unusually long count of 15 seconds or whatever is total BS. People just can't believe what they saw. Deontay Wilder is a great late KO artist, and again almost proved it there. Except he was in with an exceptional fighting man.
People saying long count have to realize the fighter reacts to the ref counting, that's who's count matters to him. Fury was not unconscious he was looking at the ref well aware of the count. U Wilder fanboys are just as bad as the Mike Tyson fanboys that claim he ko'd Douglas despite the fact that Douglas was clearly conscious and is reacting to the ref's counting because that the only count he should worry about.
Wilder got minutes against Ortiz, the referee called in a Dr at the start of a round to give Wilder time to recover. Wilder and his fans can never complain about a long count, it wasn't long anyway.
Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are two of my favorite fighters. I was just happy the fight turned out so well. Because I root for them all the time separately. That said, I wasn't concerned so much about the referee's count (because those always vary) so much as it was another 10 seconds after Fury got up before the ref waved them to start fighting again. It was a LONG TIME between the moment Tyson's back hit the floor and the ref told them to continue fighting. On the Showtime telecast, on the clock at the bottom of the screen, Fury was flattened around 2:21/2:20, and the ref waived them together to fight at the 2:00 mark. 20 to 21 seconds is a LONG time to give someone to get up and then say "you okay?" and then wave them together. I'm glad the referee let the fight go on and he didn't stop it when Fury was on his back, because Fury got up and won the rest of the round. But that seemed like a LONG TIME before fighting resumed.
That isn't true. If you go back and watch the fight, Ortiz got more time when he went down and got up than Wilder ever got ... Ortiz got almost as much time as Fury got last night. Just more anti-Wilder nonsense this site is becoming known for.
When was the last time you saw a fighter rocked, seriously hurt and allowed to continue fighting.. the bell rings, if the referee was that concerned he should have stopped the fight. He has a full minute to recover, the referee can bring a Dr in to his corner if he was really concerned to have a look.. But NO He waits until the rounds starts, then stops the action and takes Wilder to a corner for an examination. It just doesn't happen like that, it isn't anti wilder, it's just what happened.
