Doctors visit corners all the time. And when the doctor is examining someone in the corner the corner often gets more time to work on their fighter after the doctor leaves - because the doctor cut into their time. The only difference in that fight was the doctor was standing on the ring apron in a neutral calling Wilder to another corner when the bell rang to start the round and the ref directed him over there. I agree. The doctor should've visited Wilder in his corner, and Wilder still would've been given the same amount of time. The doctor standing in the neutral corner calling him over was the doctor's problem. Regardless, that entire scenario took less time than it took the referee to ask Fury if he was okay and to wave them together last night. And you're saying Wilder got MINUTES and acting all OUTRAGED. It wasn't MINUTES. It was less than 10 seconds, because a doctor was standing in the wrong corner. And he quickly took a pen light to his eyes and dismissed him. It was nothing. If the doctor had stepped in the ring in Wilder's corner and done the same thing between rounds, the fight would've been delayed just as long. That's the truth. And you know it is. All I'm saying is you don't need 21 seconds to give the guy an eight count and wave the fighters to continue. That's all. It was A LITTLE LONG. But I'm glad the fight continued.
It was blatant bias and a huge advantage given to Wilder. If that happened in a AJ Vs Wilder fight in the UK and AJ was taken to a Dr at the start of a round for a chat in the same circumstances this site would actually explode.
No it wasn't. It was a doctor in the wrong corner. And this site DIDN'T EXPLODE when Tyson Fury got 21 seconds from the time he went down to the time they started fighting again. I think it only EXPLODES when Wilder haters perceive he might be getting an advantage. As you are clearly an example of. That eight-second incident happened nearly a year ago, and you're still angry about it. Get over it. There was a historic Heavyweight Title Fight last night, and all guys like you want to talk about is any other fight/or Anthony Joshua ... And not Fury-Wilder ... because it wasn't the trainwreck you all INSISTED it would be.
Seen some truly ridiculous claims about the length of time in seconds, he was down. It is completely irrelevant, but it is also incorrect in the first place. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of videos on YouTube and Twitter, with timers running - it isn't difficult to get an accurate reading of it. Spoiler Alert: he is on his feet by 10 seconds.
Not buying a long count! Fury was up before the count of 10 and the ref needs to do a cognition check before letting the fight begin. And I wanted Wilder to win, so there you go! I may have a strong disliking fo a fighter or his fans but, I'll not let that comprimise my integrity.
@Dubblechin You're showing double standards here. Fury beat the 10 count..... The referee can then give Fury as long as he likes. He could even give him the 'Wilder treatment' and could have asked a doctor to take a look. You're arguing that it was ok for Wilder to be 'checked', but not Fury.
I'm not complaining about Fury getting extra time. I thought the fight was great. And I'm glad the fight continued after Fury went down. It was a tremendous round. The thread starter asked if it was a long count. I said 21 seconds was kind of long, yes. I'm just being fair. It was a little long. The other guy was the one blowing a blood vessel about the Wilder-Ortiz fight. People aren't still complaining about the weird stuff that happened in Chisora-Parker. Most people recognize stuff happens in fights and they move on. But the people who don't like Wilder never seem to "move on." Even after a great fight last night, people still bring up "well what about that time Wilder got MINUTES TO RECOVER." It's gotten really tiresome.
It was a 9/10 second count. Where is this 21 second count coming from? You know the ref could, if he wanted, have checked Fury out for an indefinite amount of time right? He could have asked for a doctor..... He could have asked for another doctor for a second opinion..... The count was 10 seconds max.
Can you read? I said Fury went down with 2:21 left in the round and the ref waived the fighters together with 2:00 left in the round. That's a long time between the time a guy went down and the time they tell the fighters to continue fighting. But, guess what? It doesn't matter. See how I let that go? And I won't still be bringing it up 10 months from now the night after a classic heavyweight fight ... but you'll still probably be griping about Wilder-Ortiz.
@Dubblechin I can read very well, hence i spotted this. "The thread starter asked if it was a long count. I said 21 seconds was kind of long, yes." There was no 21 second count. After a 10 second count, the bout then restarts at the referees discretion. He checked Fury, like all referees do after a bad KD, and the fight restarted.
Stop the reaching. Lol This content is protected Plus for a good portion of Fury’s time on the deck he was looking at the ref and being smart by regaining his senses and not popping right back up.
For those who are screaming about the "long count" in the Wilder - Fury fight. Tyson was up in 9.5-10 seconds after hitting the canvas. There were thousands of fights, where counts were way longer and nobody complained/protested. Look at how Chris Byrd knocks Levi Billups down hard with a left hand. Billups needed 11-11.5 seconds to get up - it's 1.5 seconds more than Tyson Fury. And there were tons of other knockdowns like that on the championship level too. This content is protected Don't try to cover clearly wrong judges' decision with a "long count" bullsh!t
It’s ridiculous the count was fine. Totally fair. And Fury got up and was totally alert not like he was stumbling and got extra time. This is a contrived controversy- to help Wilder’s cause because Fury outboxed him badly and deserved an outright win.
