Interestingly Tyson outjabbed famous jabber Lennox in the first before gassing. His jabbing technique was simple but with excellent snap, speed and power but it didnt have the variety or range because of Tysons short 70inch reach

A man with a 70inch reach just can't usually outjab a skilled jabber with an 80inch reach and win the fight with the jab alone and needs to get in close.

If Tyson was 6'5 with a 80inch reach with all else been equal he'd go down as a great jabber

That could have been potentially harmful had it landed. Razor was a vicious uppercutter in both the left and right hands. His downfall was his defense, and had he improved it, may have gone further in his career.

Mike Tyson was fundamentally a very good boxer. Cus D'amato had him slipping inside and punching off the angles, using his jab primarily to set up his power shots. Tyson from 1984 - 1989 was beautiful fighter to watch and he had a very good jab that made his inside fighting that much better.

I've read about it some time ago. Watch how fluently he throws the right hook to the body, a punch that almost no orthodox fighter uses, when he knocked down Spinks for the first time.

5,10 Tyson outjabbed 6,4 6,5 fighters yes he had a very good jab for his size and style I would probably call him the best jabber amongst HWs with his style.

Tyson is 5,10 5,11 at Best he was never going to be able to put in a Holmes or Ali jabbing exhibition . For his size and style Tysons jab was the best.

I remember watching an interview with Tyson where he stated that timing and not reach is the most important factor in terms of outjabbing taller fighters with long arms.

Tyson's solid jab effectively opened the way for his awesome offense; thus, it was a great tool for what it was designed.

And I am always amazed to see how Tyson and Holmes both shoot out jabs in Round 2, with Tyson's connecting.

He had an excellent jab combined with good footwork and head movement. People talk about his power and speed but he was also excellent defensively at his peak.

Yeah I've seen how profficient he is with his hands, but most converted southpaws don't have his type of right cross/overhand right. Look at De la Hoya, Frazier, ect.

Thats a clip of Tyson shooting basketball. He dribbles and shoots a jumper with his right hand. Not too many people shoot jumpers with their offhand.

Again I wouldn't doubt there being stuff pointing to him being a natural southpaw, but the stuff I've seen from him pointed to him just being abidextrious.

Yeah thats what I was figuring. Kind of like a guy that is Right handed and throws right handed, but bats only lefty, then being converted into a switch hitter.

Might sound kind of stupid but I'm right handed but feel alot more comfortable in a southpaw stance. :verysad
