Remember all that bull**** with Tyson wrecking into a tree and Givens running off at the mouth on 20/20 that Tyson was bi-polar, manic depressive, that he had violent outbursts and that he tried to kill himself? There was some papers at the time that speculated that Tyson's weight gain in his last three fights [before Bruno] combined with all these mood swings and the like, could have been attributed to steroids.

No it not. Mike is/was a genetic freak. At the age of 13 he was a SOLID 200lbs. He comes from a family who have a history of weight problems and that includes Tyson. What you must understand is steroids is NOT a wonder drug. It can only augment what genetics are already there. Some people dont respond to them well at all. Some people do. Iv never taken steroids in my life but iv been accused of it by guys who havent got the faintest idea about them. Being big doesnt equate to steroids. Im more than 20lbs heavier than Mikes prime fighting weight and iv never taken steroids in my life.

To assume Mike has taken them is pretty stupid as you can level that accusation at anyone. Without being able to prove or disprove it definitively is also a waste of time as theres NOTHING to suggest he was ever on them. Either way Mike WAS genetically blessed that much is a fact. No amount of hormones can give you speed or punching power like that.

Could have, maybe, possibly its all moot conjecture and preamble. Have you considered the fact that his marriage was a monumental mess, he was incredibly depressed at the time, wasnt coping with the death of Cus, hated his inlaws and had the media in his face 24/7 because he was at the height of his fame?

Its apparent from an early age that Mike was a VERY delicate individual who was weak mentally and easily influenced as well as hurt. No amount og steroids can contribute to that or what his been through. Theres no point in digging for sake of trying to find a connection. There simply isnt one.

Nope. That means you know bugger all about hormones. How was you able to tell he didnt add no extra fat at 230lbs? Did you have magical calipers in your eye sight? Bare in mind Mike only weighed that much towards the end of his career. Even when he fought Julius Francis he was around 225lbs and Ian Darke expressly commented on how remarkable this was as Mike has always been around that weight since the 80's and had only gained a few lbs over the years.

And no Tyson wasnt naturally trained at 215lbs. His trainers struggled to keep his weight down. Mikes weight was closer to 220 as an average for his career. An extra 10lbs for a heavyweight is nothing.

Trust me if Mike was on gear he'd have been way way bigger than he was.

FFS, Cus D'Amato died least three years before the Bruno fight ffs, so I dont want to hear that **** any more that he couldnt cope with Cus's death. It didnt bother him enough to not be able to knock Berbick, Tubbs, Holmes, Tucker, and others out. So please, refrain from the whole Cus thing, cus that excuse is old.

As far as Robin Givens, yeah Mike was ****ed over by that stuck up *****, but at the same token, had Mike listened to other celebrities like Eddie Murphy [who once said of Givens, "Everyone in Hollywood has ****ed Robin, but Mike married her"] he would have known she was no good for him, so thats his own fault.

As for the fame...I get tired of that excuse too...you become a boxer, musician, artist, actor, for two things: the money and the FAME...so dont go feeling sorry for Mike Tyson being so popular that he managed to get $10 million dollars for fighting fat ass Tony Tubbs in Tokyo, Japan when in America the fight wouldnt have sold at all.

Thats crap. Hormone users dont have no puffy look. If they did they wouldnt be on hormones!!! Its not some fluid like Synthol that augments the muscle tissue. Hormones cause muscle growth through direct stimulation which encourages more growth as the muscle is torn and repaired continously. The hormones increase that effect and more dense musculature is built rapildy according to work regime and genetics. The result is HARD striated muscle not some "puffy" look.

Wether your tired of the excuses is completely immaterial. The point here is a simple one. YOU'RE NOT privvy to Mikes personal life and to make a blithe suggestion that he crashed into a tree as a result of steroid abuse is pretty stupid and most of all amazingly ignorant.

To then conclude that his personal life had little to no reflection on that just compounds you're stupid argument that much more. Its a futile debate based on nothing more than semantics, you're subjective opinion (that frankly means squat) and a whole bunch of conjecture akin to pie in the sky.

The FACTS remain Mikes life during his marriage to Robin was VERY turbulent. God forbid that may have been a contributing factor no?

If anything the accusations (although in my opinion they are false) could be leveraged at Holy with more impetus as Holy trained with Lee Haney. Not definitive proof in the slightest considering Holys minimal gains. But Steroids/hormones arent used just for building mass. And Haney was a champion Hormone taker.

Dont know about your source but that is absolute hogwash. The Bruno 2 and Nielsen fight are at least 5 or so years apart. Where on earth do you find a connection like that 5 years apart?

And when he fought Nielsen it was actually assumed Mike had retired after the Golota fight because Mike said so himself. He fought Nielsen at least 12-18months after he fought Golota and came in at a career heavy 239/40lbs. I have the fight on VHS and have watched it tons of times. Mike at that time was the ONLY person to knock Nielsen down who was huge and outweighed Mike by at least 20-30lbs. The reason why he came in so heavy was according to his trainer, the size of Nielsen who was so large in height and weight. Mike exploded in round 4th or 5th and sent Nielsen flying half way across the ring with a 3 punch combination. To that date Nielsen had never been stopped. Mike was the first to stop him when Steve Smoger waved it off. And when i say half was across the ring im not exaggerating i have the fight on tape.

Yes, but it could also be the fact that Tyson is simply a screwed up individual. The guy's always been a head case, always been violent.

Tyson hadn't put on any weight in his 3 fights in 1988 from previous fights. He actually weighed less for his 1988 fights than he did for his fights in 1987. He was around the same area, mid 210s to low 220s, from the start of his career.

It just does my absolute head in how people have a "justified" opinion on a subject they know **** all about. People talk about steroids as though its a magic pill. Pretty much every poster in this thread has forgotten the fact that Mike was a professonal athlete for over 20 years and would have trained 4-5 times a week.

There is a 'look' to heavy users of testosterone-which comes ,as I said, from sodium and water retention in the bodily tissues.
This of course does not mean that you can say with 100% certainty that someone is juicing.Nothing is 100% certain in this world.

You can google steroids and "water retention" or browse some of the 1200 scientific articles on google scholar:
    http://scholar.google.com/scholar?h...abolic+steroids+"water+retention"&btnG=Search

A couple of quotes from scientific publications 'Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition' and the 'British Medical Journal'

    http://pen.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/7/3/221
"However, anabolic steroid caused greater gain of water requiring a more liberal use of diuretics, but prevented the gains of fat, triglyceride and insulin that occurred in the control group......... It is concluded that in patients who may be in the catabolic phase of recovery anabolic steroid probably enhances amino acid and water uptake by tissues and increases the utilization of fat but, ......."

    http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1673411
"Thirteen experienced male weightlifters taking high-protein diets and regular exercise took part in a double-blind crossover trial of methandienone(dianabol) 10 or 25 mg/day to seeif the drug improved athletic performance. Their improvemments were significantly greater on methandienone than on placebo; their body weights rose (though this seemed to be associated with water retention);"

The science writer Paul de Kruif wrote an bestselling paperback in 1945,proclaiming the benefits of testosterone supplementation. In it he documented his own use.
The popular stigma associated with steroids seems to have increased in the 64 years since. :?
