Yep. And in a sport like boxing I really think the most talented and hardest working (and well managed/connected!) fighters will rise to the top and whether they are on the juice or not will play a minuscle part, if any. There's just so much to boxing it would be ridiculous to actual believe a champion got to the top because he was a "steroid cheat". Some other sports, eg. powerlifting, bodybuilding obviously, and probably heavy throwing events, you could argue that even the most talented freaks need to be on some powerful juice to compete world class. But I'm no expert.
Speaking of roids, and I never really wanted to say anything bad about Evander, but he looked out of his skin in the two Tyson fights. He was jacked and his whole demeanor was just mean. Looking back from the Czyz fight to the Tyson fight, Holy was a lot bigger and stronger looking.
l to compete in powerlifting and bodybuilding you have got to be doing large ammounts of roids. ABUSING THE **** IN OTHER WORDS. thats why many pw's and bb's die youngs. thats why juice has such a bad rap boxers and otehr athletes USE the stuff in sensible dosages i agree with your points. steroids will only do so much. but it cannot be denied that most pros have used this stuff to enhance performance. IT IS NOT JUST FOR BUILDING MUSCLE. i think the heavyweights use it for muscle and performance. but i believe the lighter weight guys use it to improve stamina and endurance
to prove my point about roids doing more than building muscle UNTIL 5 weeks ago, i hadnt done any punch bag work for 6 months becuase of hand damage. i started a course of roids 7 weeks ago my first session back on the bags, i never really felt like i had been away for it that long with regards to stamina and endurance in the past (WHEN NATURAL), i have had 3-4 months away from bag work and felt like **** for a week or two. it really was a struggle getting back into it
Hmmm... 1) Recovering quicker from a heavy workout and so being able to train consistently at a higher intensity. 2) Managing to maintain muscle mass and strength levels, even while concentrating on endurance. Even a fighter at a lighter weight could conceivably benefit.
All right.... Somebody has to stop this madness... just kidding Seriously, I think we should better check some hard dataon how naturally big Tyson was. I just found an old Tyson documentary here: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/263145/young_mike_tyson_documentay/ The documentary shows a lot of images from 1980-82 when Tyson was what? 12-14 years old? It is IMPRESSIVE. I am not a Tyson lover, but I must admit that he was a freak of nature. I don't know if he used roids during the 90s, but I think that he still had freakish genetics and that he was naturally built during the late 80s. Those pictures don't lie :admin
he was a freak for that age. but he stopped growing in height at an early age. you would of said that he was going to grow to six 3 or 4 if you knew him at 15
I dont really see too much change in tysons build to accuse him of steroids, ONLY time he looks suspect is the Holyfield 2 fight. But you have to remember, Tyson when he was scared, trained very hard. He used to skip training prior to the Spinks fight to put fear into himself and then when he would train, he would train twice as hard. Look at Tysons shape against Douglas, then look at it against Ruddock? Tyson admitted he trained hard for the second Bruno fight (im pretty sure he remembered how competitive their first fight was) Against Seldon, Holyfield, he looke slightly chunk, then in the rematch against holy, tyson came in shape. If anyone was on steroids, its ****ing Holyfield http://media.web.britannica.com/eb-media/58/104658-004-E7E53A44.jpg http://cbsatlanta.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/holyfield-vs-douglas.jpg?w=300 Holyfield in 1991 Holyfield in 1996 https://msbush.wikispaces.com/file/...32907007/evander_holyfield_caesars_palace.jpg
