...or did Lee just do pretty bad? I'm watching the FNF replay right now, and as of the end of round 2... though Vera has just hurt Lee, he still looks pretty amateurish, while Lee just looks disappointing. The first time I watched the fight, I wasn't really paying close attention as I assumed Lee was going to win. But what does everyone else think?
Lee had a much higher connect percentage at 58% but both guys had **** defence. I'm going to say that Lee "fought" like **** in that he didn't utilize angles, his jab, movement, and better defense since those are all key components of boxing. Vera used heart, stamina and brute force to overwhelm Lee.
Oh and another thing... What is the point of trying to fight from the outside, if you're going to stick your head out into your opponent's punching range on the INSIDE? Is this some kind of new secret Kronk weapon that Steward just hasn't quite perfected? I just cannot figure out why Lee was just leaving himself in Vera's strike zone (not really a boxing term, in fact it may not even be a real baseball term...but yall know what I mean! ) so carelessly without moving his head or keeping his hands up. And when he did use his head movement... he would move it so little that straight punches from Vera (double jabs) would BOTH land! I just can't believe Steward would send a fighter of his out into combat like this without understanding the CONCEPT of of head movement, or even trying any kind of defense!
vera did extremely well last night and did what was necessary in constantly closing the gap between himself and lee never standing in front of lee and getting lee uncomfortable and not fighting the fight he is used to fighting, all props go to vera and i'm sure this is one bitterly sore hangover for lee today.
ok,you think a winky lee fight would even resemble the fight last night? styles make fights and a fight with winky would be a tactical match rather than warfare,im not saying lee would win im just saying that it isnt very comparable.
Lee should have jabbed more. whenever he threw it it landed pretty well. But Vera showed a lot of heart and I'm not going to take anything away from him. I was at Mohegan and it was a great fight. Good luck on the bounce back Andy.
