It seems that after the Byrd loss his punching power gradually diminished and after the comeback he was mostly arm punching.

Before the Byrd fight he was stopping guys early and after not so much. Mostly in the later rounds. I took a glimpse at a couple of fights from his early career, mid-career and later career and this is how it seems to be. I wonder if it was already affecting him in the Lewis fight?

additionally , a man the size of vits will be prone to rotator cuff tears in sports, especially if they have a crudem basic style like vitali.

One only has to look at the improvement of his already weak resume to understand why the ko's werent coming as easily. Vits was a big strong guy, but lets not pretend he was ever a really big puncher. He overwhelmed fighters to stop them more often than not. As you move up defenses get better, that is why it took Vittles longer to get fighters out of there before Byrd, no other reason.

Just look at how his punching technique has changed in his later fights compared to early on. There is no doubt in my mind that it has had a significant effect on the power of his punches.

Wasn't quite as destructive. He was blasting guys out in one or two rounds like Hide and Norris, but after Byrd he was wearing them down over more rounds. Same with the comeback, never had the same velocity. Vitali pre Byrd and the knee shoulder problems would have got rid of Briggs and Johnson.

Bowe took 6 to get rid of Hide (his only stoppage loss at the time) and nobody ever KO'd Norris in 1, his last career fight as an old man was his second worst defeat, a tko7 to Afalobi. So you're talking BS.

Joseph Chingangu stopped Hide in 3. You know the legendary alltime great Joseph Chingangu.

Dude, the myth of Vitali's punching powers been exposed a long time ago.

Yes the Byrd injury took away a lot of snap from his punches. His power was similar to Waldo prior to that.
