Did Vitali throw the Byrd fight or just straight up quit?

A few things don't really make sense to me here...

If you watch the 9th round, Vitali is still throwing with both arms and looks comfortable. He's even throwing with both arms in the closing seconds. He looks fine.

Then out of nowhere he quits like a *****. Was it that Chris Byrd had just out landed him in the 9th and refused to lay down? Did he just straight up quit or was there something more sinister here?

He needed a surgery to repair the shoulder. He had the discipline not to jeopardize the entire career over a single win. Lose the battle win the war. You wouldn't understand.

He could of won that fight without throwing his injured arm.

Have you any idea how painful a torn rotator cuff is?

If not trated right or let to go on too long, its an outright career killer for a boxer. Even now 12 years on,he doesnt throw the amount of power punched he used to

Jean Pascal fought through a torn rotator cuff, a fractured and dislocated shoulder. He went to war with it, in fact.

    I think Vitali just quit.

Glass hearts exist in boxing :deal Vitali has a glass heart.

Vitali was well ahead against a feather fighter fighter. There's the difference.

Not all torn rotator cuffs are equal. Some can be repaired through surgery, some simply through physical therapy.

Indeed. We don't know whether Vitali's was worse or not. What we do know, however, is he didn't look to be in as much pain as others who have had a similar injury.

He didn't look to be in any pain at all in the 9th round. That is why am I wondering if he chucked it. Or maybe because Byrd just had a good round and was landing on him he took the easy way out?
