Did Ward actually win this Olympic semifinal?

The 20 year old Andre Ward won this fight against the 30 year old Uzbek with cleaner work and a strong finish. Specifically, at 15:52 he lands with a straight right. Then to secure it at 16:12 with another straight right.

Kovalev on the other hand: knocked down badly by Abbos Atoev.

On the one hand, we have a gold medalist at the age of 20 fighting way above his natural weight.

On the other, you have a dude getting sprawled out by Abbos in in an international event of no consequence.

 

How about this crustal clear unscored straight right hand for Andre. Hard to see how the judges missed this one:

Ward clearly won this. Clearly.

 

Darnell Boone (22 losses on his record) knocked out Adonis Stevenson and knocked down Kovalev as well.

 

Atoev is a two time world champion and a great amateur who was a big puncher. Way better than the guy ward fought

 

Ward also beat The Russian #1 Makarov and Clemente Russo, both of whom are far more accomplished than Atoev.

When Kovalev is asked about Ward he says something to the effect: "oh yes, Ward beat Makarov and Makaraov is a legend. Ward good."

 

It is what it is. Looked like he was blasted from a canon, getting all sprawled out, and then making angel wings on the canvas until he finally came to.

I think he's improved since then though.

Back to the topic at hand. Ward won this fight--stop letting all this bizarre hate get in the way of simple visual perception.

wards consent running and holding is so ugly to watch..but thats his style.He wont fight kov cos he knows it will end his boxing life...as for this fight meh u can say he won but those were knockdowns to me..wards holding is pathetic one minute his running then he is holding..its boring to watch.
