i'm a british fight fan but i think last night he got showed to be quite amateur...no coincidence that hes now calling for RJJ as opposed to a prime pavlik like he was before the fight

If Joe looked like an amateur then what did Bernard look like?
    Ruiz aside.

A little respect? The man has been a champion for well over 10 years! He has beaten everyone ever put in him.Ruined Jeff Lacey.Outboxed Kessler in a bout that supposedly JC didn't want and was avoiding.I''m from the USA and have always respected JC.But I still feel a prime Eubank and Benn would have been too much for JC.

Just wanted to know im not really here to trash on his accomplishment. Overall I think it was a pretty good fight, each man did what he said he would do. Hopkins basically landed more clear power shots that momentarily stunned Joe, and Joe landed more than double the amount of punches Hopkins did.

this is a dumb question to ask. anyone who competes at the pro level of this brutal sport shown automatically get the respect of americans, brits, japs, mexicans, and whoever else.

i was rootin for BHop and the US last night, but at the end of the day I scored the bout 115-113 for Joe.

holy ****,i really can't believe what i read sometimes on here ... joe looked amateur,he just beat the guy that nobody has ever looked good beating even RJJ,an argument can be made that bhop was not far removed from his prime,it all depends on how you consider his win over tarver.for joe to be able to get of a few scoring combos in the fight and even use a jab effectively against bhop must gain repsect or you just have no respect for what bhop has done his whole career.
joe doesnt box like a normal boxer,he is so unorthodox and this is what allowed him to land so many times on hops last night.

it was a truly great fight it terms of strategy and i have gained immense respect for both me.****ing hell he just came to vegas, beat the lhw champ, came back from an early kd,if you don't want to respect that i really don't know what some boxing fans expect.

I dont think it is a stupid question at all. If you are following all the threads in this site you can find alot stating that Joe is simply a workrate amateur boxer with no pop in his punch and the whole fight the commentators kept bringing this up....I respect every boxer who gets in the ring but my question is did we americans "GAIN" more respect or did it stay the same.

calzaghe will shoot up legacy wise in retirement, way more than anything he is regarded in at the moment stateside.

lennox lewis is a case in point of this.

    very respected fighter stateside now

Hate the SOB and his style but he proved to me he is legit after the Lacy and Kessler wins.
