What was all that about at the start of the 8th round? Now I'm not saying it was a certainty that Ortiz would finish the job but what was the ref playing at?
The referee was helping Wilder on several occasion thought that fight. That was one of them. The referee should lose his job for something like that.
What the hell was he doing getting the doctor to look at him again when they were ready to start fighting. I need to look again but i bet he gave him a good 30 seconds.
I could be mistaken, but I believe they did shorten the period from when the rule was initially put into effect. As I understand it deals with checking to see if fighters are concussed. When it was first made a rule, I think there were more steps to it. And I believe the rule is unique to New York. Not saying it's a good rule, and not saying Wilder didn't benefit from the extended breather. Just explaining what happened as I understand it.
Its been going on for years , too much grease on the face , forgot the mouth guard etc... Nothing new.
