Did we over estimate how badly Mayweather was hurt?

His legs don't buckle on the first shot. He holds on to Mosley's arm because he's in a bad position to defend himself, with Mosley having stepped to the outside of his lead foot, and he doesn't want to catch another right hand over the top.

The second punch is more damaging, as it buckles his legs, but he straightens up immediately, covers up, and there is very little holding after that punch.

Nowhere close to "holding on for dear life". I mean, watch the damn video, there's about 3 seconds of holding, total, during both exchanges.

Dirrell hurt Froch in their fight about as much as Mosley hurt Mayweather. Which is to say that he hurt him, but was nowhere near knocking him out.

Mayweather was hit in his Cerebellum. Behind the ear. Thats usually not a knock out punch. What it does is cause a fighter to lose motor control over the rest of his body. As to why Mayweathers legs were shaky. Mentally he was still in the fight, his brain was just having trouble relaying signals to the rest of his body.

So saying Mayweather was hurt, is true sorta, but not really accurate. Chin shots, and temple shots are usually the shots that knock a fighter out.

Everybody certainly overreacted at the time (was in a movie theater playing the fight).

He was buzzed, but not on ***** St.

The first shot was decent. He may have been touched, but not too bad off. The fact that he caught the arm and could clench effectively showed he had his wits. That was a beautiful second shot and Mayweather just amazed me with his recovery. He was hurt like hell. He couldn't clench or stay planted. Speaks to both dudes skills.

You know the shot hurt FMJ because of the way his legs straightened out and he was trying to "find the ground". He was seriously buzzed. However knowing FMJ? At worst, he would have just taken a knee, got the 8 count, got the standing 8 count, and continued to dominate the fight.

The first clean hard right hand that landed resulted in Floyd holding on. The punch was enough proof to me that he is susceptible (particularly at this stage of his career campaigning at or around ww) to getting ktfo.

Everyone in boxing is in danger of getting KTFO. Look at Lennox Lewis, Vlad Klitschko, Manny Pacquiao, JMM, Casamayor, Jose Luis Castillo, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams....EVERYONE.

But when comparing Pac and Mayweather...Pac has been in danger of getting KTFO more often than Floyd.

    Floyd- Corley-Mosley
Pac- BUM 1, BUM 2, Hussein, Larios, Solis, JMM I, JMM II, MAB II.

The first punch did nothing. The 2nd punch buckled his legs for a moment, but thats all. You could see his head was clear. He covered up well, and you see him still analyzing Mosley with his back on the ropes. Within 10 secs he was back to walking down Mosley. But I wil admit, it looked much worse live.

Void was fine from the first punch. The reason he held onto Mosley's arm was because he HATES getting hit. This is there's nothing cool about taking punishment we're dealing with.

He was definitely hurt from the second. He tried to throw his signature lead right, but it ended up coming short since his legs were gone for awhile.

The only thing is that rewatching the cotto-mosley fight. Cotto took plenty of those 'buggy whip' right hands without the same effect. I think its more to do with PBF rarely getting hit clean so when hes does get hit it affects him slightly more.

Yes Mayweather was hit pretty good especially on the second shot where Floyd's legs give just a bit.

Mayweather was never hurt as bad as people think. The excitement of seeing a big shot connect on Floyd is what started the frenzy in the crowd. Not to mention all the haters thinking..."this can finally be it" type of BS.

Round 2,Myweather Jr showed the world in a textbook style, what to do when faced with such a situation in the ring.

Floyd was hit good twice but never was he not in control.Mayweather realy impressed me with what he did in the second round.

On the second shot, looked to be more on the side of the head,IMO most fighters would have went down. Those shots to the side of the head can realy affect a fighters equilibrium. You can see Floyds legs give a bit,but i believe his conditioning is what kept Floyd on his feet and able to recover as fast as he did.

How Mayweather handled being rocked in the second round (both shots),and the way he stayed calm and in control by grabbing Mosley's arm and just the pure instincs not to retreat backwards and give Shane that arm (punching) room by smothering and moving forward in to Shane was simply to me,more impressive than what Mayweather did for the rest of the fight.

Floyd Jr is by far,the most intelligent fighter in the sport.

    Doesnt really matter to me...

    Eather

1 - He was as hurt as i think he was, and then showed amazing toughness, recovery, heart and awareness

    OR

2 - He wasnt as hurt as i thought, and then has a better chin then many thought, and still showed good toughness by not letting the punch phase his momentum almost at all by coming back to taking control by the end of the round.

Mayweather has hurt from the 2nd right hand. Not seriously, out-on-his-feet hurt, but you see his legs look funny as he smirks. Mayweather handled it well though, recovered, came forward, and even landed a couple of nice shots late in the round.
