So much attention wasted on media whores that were inactive, overly selective, or just hypejobs. That includes: Spence Wilder Remnants of Floyd and Manny AJ Charlos Tank BJS Thurman Danny Garcia RyGa (and others) Meanwhile, bona-fide ATG boxers carved out impressive careers despite little media coverage: Crawford (boxed out by Haymon and PBC) Inoue ("too small") Usyk (too white, too European, too inactive) Crawford was the first male boxer to become a 3-weight undisputed champ in the four-belt era. Inoue is a dominant two-weight undisputed champ who has 1 fight remaining in his 2nd undisputed weight champ before moving to another weight class to try for 3-weight like Bud. Usyk is the embodiment of P4P beating much larger champions who have weight, height, reach, and every physical advantage across 2 weight classes. A stunning boxer-puncher. These three could compete in their weight classes in any era. Most eras produce at least 1 ATG but 3 simultaneously is rare territory. We were spoiled.
I don't think the era has been overlooked. We all appreciate the skills and quality of Usyk, Inoue and Crawford and understand their greatness. I just think the era could have been so much more if other guys had fought more often and fought each other.
Zero protecting cowards are the worst and so are their fans who laugh and rejoice in other fighters who actually take risks and lose.
PBC was really the sole perpetrator in terms of protecting fighters. Just a horrific "promotional" company. This era alrdy looks so much better with Haney, Teo, Shakur, Tszyu, Bam Bam, etc.,all taking tough fights. Even RyGa is taking decent fights. Haney, as annoying as he is, is down to ****in fight. I can ride with that man
That's one of the worst posts I've ever seen on here. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/who-really-won-the-first-kovalev-vs-ward-fight.715488/
People rarely appreciate the real deal when it's in front of their face. It takes time. At least the public caught on to Usyk while he still had a bit of prime left. I don't think Crawford, for one reason or another, ever really showed his true potential.
I agree with the post but I disagree with this. Literally almost every era has produced more ATGs than the ones during 2015-2025.
Well you say that but then look at the abuse fighters get after losing suddenly get called hypejobs AJ prime example fought pretty much everyone in his era barring 2 fighters who clearly didn't want the fight and gets so much hate on here
Time will tell. Most of the eras are being shitted on when they are happening (including 90's HW scene), but as the time flies by, we seem to grow in appreciation to what we had.
I've always thought Usyk was too white but been too afraid to say it, because of how it might be perceived, especially on the lounge, and also because I worried I'd be banned so long that my post count average would drop. Then it's like I'd be dead.
I wouldn’t say it’s his colour, as Tyson has done pretty well. More his humble character and possibly being Eastern-European
