rememeber Jimenez has never been dropped before, still i tought Gamboa would take him out, so what do you guys think, Did we overrate Gamboa's power, or did we underrate Jimenez chin ? cause Gamboa hit him with some pretty hard and straight shoots and it was like nothing, Jimenez face was pretty ****ed up at then end of the fight and it was one sided match, but the guy neve went down.

I wasn't around to read previous posts regarding Gamboa, but he doesn't strike me as a big puncher, even for his size. He has some of the fastest hands I've ever seen, and his footwork shows promise, though it seemed that he should have been able to pivot, circle Jiminez at will; as Jiminez, knowing that he was the slower man by far spent alot of the fight standing still with his gloves covering his face. Too bad Jiminez didn't trust himself a little more. If he had he might have let go of alot more shots, and that planted, ripping hook of his, might have turned it.

gamboas inability to put down jimenez doesnt necessarily mean his power is overrated. however his head movement and status as a "complete" fighter is now in question.

He's got alot of amateur habits. He's gonna have to turn it up a bit if he's to live up to his potential in the States.

Some fighters are far more vulnerable to shots behind the ear.

Ask Holmes about that and watch the Cooney fight.

These guys are A level power punchers, but they don't have 100% KO ratings.

Gamboa was in with a guy who has never been KO'd, who was clearly a step up from his usual competition under a slightly different rule set (pro vs. amatuer) and he dominated. It wasnt as smooth as it should have been but he won nonetheless decisively.

He can still crack. And IMO he will develop as he assimilates into life in the spotlight (for at least the mainstream boxing public).

Remember Cotto back in 2005? After the Corley fight and Torres fight there were questions about his durability and ability as a fighter. He answered them with Judah, Mosely and I guess you can include Quintana.

Gamboa is the goods. Give him time and he'll give you glory
