Wilder had recovered by the 9th and Ortiz's batteries didn't recharge. Close run thing for Wilder. I bet the in play odds on him at the end of the 7th would have been high. He looked finished.
This forum is so lucky, if Wilder had lost i had promised to stick MVCs head up blizzys ass, thank god that didnt have to happen.
Joshua would have easily knocked out Wilder tonight, Old Man Ortiz almost did and he is 50 years old....................Why do you think Wilder refused to fight Whyte for $4,000,000? Haymon would not own the judges, noticed the referee gave Wilder extra time to recover, the commentators mentioned it. I have Ortiz winning every round except two......................and that is an Old 50 year old man who is over the hill, wait til Joshua gets hold of him...............
... or that PBC doctor saved him? Disclaimer: no, I don't think that saved Wilder, but that was a ridiculously obvious attempt to win some minutes.
But to be honest, Ortiz also needed time to recover, and more than that, he had burned all his fuel for a spurt in 7th. So it was a help for both fighters.
Wilder won. It was a great fight and it legitimised Wilder as a world class title holder. I really hope Joshua agrees to face him next.
Ortiz is 176 years old it was going to catch up with him after 10 rounds and it caught up with him after 10 rounds. A windmill is still a windmill
Wilder won. Give him some credit. I'm not having that he was up at the time on all 3 judges scorecards though.
