He was speculating on his options. At the time most thought Binsky would have had to bid a lot higher than 5m to win the bids against Haymon. This wasn't long after they paid out 23M to outbid K2 so thats where Finkel was coming from.

Why on earth would Povetkins team offer that amount of money for a voluntary when they were the mandatory challengers???

You won't find a single source that backs up your claim because it never happened.

    Yes, they obviously did.

They'll try to avoid Ortiz as well.

Hm, hasn't Povetkin been cleared for doping twice? And Wilder has been convicted for possesion..

Yes, Wilder's team didn't want to face Povetkin and probably still doesn't want to, but it's not Wilder's fault that the fight didn't take place, they simply used the mistake of Povetkin team to avoid a fight

Wilders team doesnt believe in him, and they actively avoid any real tests.

That is conclusion we have made following the past 3 years of his career.

They are even scared of facing Whyte (a £5 million pay day vs the £1 million he is getting for BP meds 50 year old). And Whyte is hardly a world beater.

Wilder wanted no part of Povetkin. If he did he would of flew to Russia from England and waited for the WBC ruling instead he went home, immediately.

1 top 10 opponent Wilder has fought in his entire career so far, he doesn't get or deserve any benefit of the doubt on taking on top challengers

I thought they agreed a fight but Povetkin failed a test.

Wilder probably did not want to go to Russia to fight Povetkin but he wasn't going to drop his belt in order to avoid him so willingly went through with the fight until Pov got busted for peds.

The idea being peddled by some fools that trying to unify with Martin was some cowardly duck is laughable.

Povetkin should have allowed him to take that fight , then he could have faced a unified Champ instead of a title holder.

Lets not forget that Povetkin said he wasn't ready to fight Wilder when he had the opportunity citing some excuse about needing preparation against Maruis Wacks.

Actually putting off Wilder to fight Wach >> 100x worse than Wilder trying to put off Povetikn to unify the belts.

He wouldn't get blame if he'd fought better comp outside of the fights called off for peds. If hed taken Pulev as a voluntary in his second title defense, Wilder would have less than half the haters he has now.

This. Wilder was going to make good money to beat Povetkin in Russia, but Povetkin couldn't make it through all of the pre-fight test.

I just want Wilder to face a full time boxer for crying out loud.

I mean i know he has faced numerous skilled blue collar workers, But someone with boxing as a profession please
