Did Winky Wright vs Floyd Mayweather nearly happen?

Winky was too big and his jab was too long and consistent for Floyd he would never fight the best in their division in there prime let alone a light middle world champ in his prime, even if Floyd could have beaten Winky, no way would he have fought him in his prime, the only good prime fighter Floyd fought was Corrales but Winky was a heavier fighter and it would have been hard for Floyd to get past his much longer jab and high gurd, plus it might have been a boring chess match.

 

Except Floyd actually did try to get this fight with Winky Wright but Winky priced himself out so the fight never happened.

I really never thought it was a viable fight. More like using Winky's name to get the real guy they wanted in a less than favorable contract. A smoke screen
