Did Wlad pick Rhaman over Toney because Toney wouldn't fight Wlad?

This just dawned on me. Wlad offered Toney a title shot a while back when Toney had no belt. Toney refused then fought someone else for less money.

    Thoughts?

    James Toney is dangerous?

Who has Wlad avoided (besides his bro) who is dangerous?

Toney chose to fight Peter instead, because it was less risk and an easier road to a title at HW (beat Peter, then fight Maskaev). Wlad would kick the hell out of Toney.

Rahman will probably get KO'd, but I like his chances, slim as they are, better than Toney's against Wlad.

At least Rahman is a natural HW with some heavy hands.

I don't blame him for picking Rahman.

Its a late substitution so you can't blame him for taking an easier fight. Toney is hardly a world beater at HW but he has a style like no one else in the division so Wlad would need a full training camp of sparring geared towards fighting someone like Toney.

Rahman is rather limited and fights more like a typical HW so as long as your are fit you don't really need as much specific sparring for him as Toney.

I see no validity in your comment whatsoever. When people like you said WK was finished, he picked the perceived most dangerous fighter, Sam Peter. I don't want to hear any argument that Peter was considered the heaviest handed HW at that time. He battered Peter for 12 rounds. What else can the man do? I mean he has unified and is recognized as the best HW in the world.

Who else is he supposed to fight? This nonsense that people like you talk does not make any sense to me.

James Toney poses NO threat to WK. There is NO danger in him and very little in Rahman. Thats true, but thats not WK fault. It is a REPLACEMENT very late.

Toney keeps pricing his self out even though he's NOT worth the amount he claims he is, what has he done in the division exactly to be worth more money apart from cheating TWICE?

He did the same with Vitali after countless trash talking, all he's good for is talking trash and when the Klitschkos approach him officially and in a professional way he runs back to the buffet table.

As if Toney would even accept the fight.

James Toney fights Thompson so he is not available.

Wlad makes his mandatory and has to box the next available contender, which is Hasim Rahman.

    Povetkin pulls out.

James Toney is not dangerous for Wlad, i believe if Toney won against Thompson we will see the fight Wlad Klitschko vs. James Toney in the USA.

Then Wlad needs to offer Toney a large buffet table at the press conference.

Peter was considered dangerous. Ibragimov was also considered a decent puncher. I don“t think Toney has the guts to fight Wlad. Maskaev was calling Wlad out recently, but not Toney. Who would you like Wlad to fight anyway?

You could at least give him credit fo fighting 6 foot 5 Tony Thompson in December.

He also fought Holyfield, Rahma, Peter, Ruiz and was lined up to face giant McCline. He also has a terrific resume.

  13. I can't believe the sillyness here of those saying Toney would pose a threat to Wlad - do you realize how silly that sounds?

Wlad is a different animal against fighters who he knows can't hurt him. See the Byrd fight for what a Wlad/Toney fight would look like.

How is he going to do that?

Rahman, whose chin is even weaker than Wlad's, walked right through his shots during their first fight, and had no problem taking them when he was blinded in their rematch, as Toney teed off.

And Wlad is 4 inches taller than Rahman, is lightyears faster both with hands and feet, and technically better.

When was the last time Toney scored a knockout at heavyweight anyway? Five years ago against a shot, 42 year old Holyfield..... the man has ZERO chance beating Wlad, not even a puncher's chance. And yet you're saying Wlad (who was scheduled to fight the best opponent available in Povetkin) is "protected", because he doesn't fight Toney?

And if he completely outclasses Toney to a lopsided corner stoppage a la Brewster II, which would definitely happen, you'd be the first to say "Wlad is cherry picking, choosing a 40 year old fat middleweight without a big punch". At least Rahman has a puncher's chance, and he was the best substitute available.
