I thought RJJ put on a pretty good show; the fight was certainly more interesting to watch than the Cintron or Gomez fights. There was a lot of infighting on the ropes, of which Roy usually managed to beat Henshaw up pretty convincingly with most of Henshaws spastic flurries deflecting off of Jones' arms (a lot of people have characterized RJJ as "resting" or "laying back" which just isn't true). RJJ staggered the kid a number of times in the fight, but never knocked him out. The shots in the 11th that knocked Henshaw down were hard enough to bloody him up a bit. I got the impression that RJJ didn't want to finish him late because he certainly had the opportunity. This could have been a product of his less than killer instinct or his desire to get in rounds while rebuilding his career. It was worth 30 bucks. With the lame undercard, not much more.
Yeah im sure RJJ couldve KOed numerous times but maybe he wanted to carry the kid and make him look alittle better after about 5 rounds I knew he didnt have a chance to even KO Jones as the punches started to lose steam.
Bought the RJJ fight? BWAHAHAHAHA!! Man, that's like a guy who's used to caviar eating ALPO. Hells no!
Wow I got Irish blood to but im ashamed to know we have that in commen cause ur a ****ing moron Jones not a boxing legend :rofl
I thought it was a great fight. You also got to see Roy in the center of the ring with his hands up pushing into hanshaw and punching....Something kind of rare to see. Hanshaw came at Roy tough the whole fight, good win for Roy I think, being as how he lost three in a row utill Prince Badi but that was a year ago.... Cut him some slack, whats wrong with taking on a solid fighter that brought a fight with him?
I'd be willing to cut him more slack if that sled wasn't on PPV. I had no interest in paying to see an RJJ fight when there was a superior card on for free. That's my view. I can understand why RJJ fans would want to buy this fight, but I'm hard-pressed to see why anyone else would buy it. The poll results seem to reflect this. It probably sold less than Duddy's fight, I suspect.
Although I paid the money, I think that is a fair assessment. If I wasn't an RJJ fan, I wouldn't have shelled out any cash (a lot less cash than I paid to see his last fight live, BTW). The undercard was certainly not worth even $5.00. That said, where does RJJ go to fight at present except for PPV? He's burned his bridges with HBO, probably isn't a big enough draw for Showtime and is still too big a draw for FNF.
