Did you find Klitschko-Povetkin really that boring?

First, a little disclaimer: I am not a big Klitschko fan

I accidentally came across the result of this fight which I had recorded, the headline claiming it was a boring fight.

So I clicked it on, and watched it. At first feeling deflated, thinking it was just another Klitschko jabfest ready to assault my eyes.

Shockingly, I found it to be a very interesting fight, in a number of different ways.

It was by no means the most exciting fight of the decade, but I though it was given some pretty harsh reviews considering all of the different things going on in this encounter

    Am I alone?

Yes, just a terrible fight for Boxing. THIS is supposed to be 'The Man' at Heavyweight? Laughable.

Somewhat boring, but not really as bad as some are saying.

We did see a few good shots that put Povetkin down, and he did nail Wlad a few times.

Some act as if it was another Ibragimov Wlad fight.......

It was worse than the ibragimov fight by far , why does wlad allways stink out the joint big unification fights? its like he has panic attacks or something..

And to think they use to knock John Ruiz for his clinches ..

Indeed, I'm not saying his tactics were excusable, pretty woeful actually, but I just thought that made the fight that little bit more dramatic, Povetkin, an olympic champion and undefeated top contender to the throne, should have done a little more to try and get Klitschko off him. When he did throw, he actually landed some dangerous looking blows, but the fact is, as much as Klitschko got away with holding and fouling, it was as much Povetkins fault as it was the terrible refereeing

All of these things and more I was noticing throughout this bout

which is another reason I couldn't call it boring

There was nothing wrong with the points you've mentioned it just was overshadowed by the excessive clinching, over 150 times is just absurd.

It just killed what could have been a good, clean competitive bout.

It was absurd as you say, but as I watched it, I was screaming for Povetkin to start pushing off, kicking up a fuss, do anything rather than just accept getting held, resetting, throwing a good shot, then getting leaned on and held again.

Let's face it, if the referee lets you do it, that's one thing, if your opponent is letting you do it to... then **** it, why not?

Not my personal favourite strategy but it isn't dumb

Povetkin on the other hand, his effort also deserved respect, some of the shots he took were fierce, and if we had the face he is going to have tomorrow, imagine how we would feel if people said our fight was last night was "boring"

that's another point, Povetkins face wasn't ****ed up by Wlads clinches
