He is making fun of Ted Haggard, the former head of the national evangelical movement. And no problem with the Peter thing, just don't be too much like the Haye fans that make everything about DD Haye.
Let me chime in here. I can understand your being a fan of Peter. He fights anyone, anywhere, brings some power and a good chin. However, we all know he has some defects too. As for Povetikin, you are wildly underrating him. We know his chin is at least very good- one of the most succesful amatuer careers ever, a successful kickboxing career, and a couple of decent punchers as a pro in Friday Ahunanya and Richard Bango. Does this mean he can stand up to Wladdy? We don't know, but his chin is not as untested as all of that. As for his power, as mentioned, he has a 73% knock our ratrio with a couple of stoppages of good chinned guys in Byrd and David Bostice. No, he is not a murderous puncher, but not neraly as bad as you think. Also, if Sammy says that he had a bad eardrum against McCline, I take it at face value. But then please extend the same courtesy to Sacha when he says he had the flu agaisnt Chambers- a fight which he was pretty impressive in. And please do not forget that everything you are saying about Alex is mitigated by the fact that he has had only 15 fights. Sam Peter and Alexander Povetkin would be, in my estimation, a hell of a fight.
i dont think povetkin should fight wlad anytime soon. maybe he should wait a few years and work on some things. but he could definitely beat sam peter. hed tire peter out bad.
Good points and a repect that.. btw HBO had verified the eardrum rupture and it happend in sparring before that fight
Povetkin is roadkill against wlad. tailor-made for wlad. when povetkin comes forward to attack, he is just as susceptible to punches as peter. unlike peter, he doesnt have a hard chin. Once wlad lands a couple of big rights, he will stop coming forward and wlad will systematically take him apart. povetkin's workrate means nothing when he cannot reach wlad. unlike chambers, wlad has good stamina and actually uses his feet. wlad tko 5-7. as for peter-povetkin. i'd take peter here by stoppage in the late rounds. both are aggressive and have heart. peter's effective power is limited by his sloppy technique. povetkin is average in this dept. the problem for povetkin is he will get into a slugfest with peter and due to his lack of defense, peter's heavy blows will wear him down. peter can take anything povetkin can dish out. i could see povetkin slightly ahead at the time of stoppage though. a x-factor might be peter's conditioning. if peter comes in around 250, he should be fine. if he comes in like he did against toney in their first fight (257), id take povetkin. someone said povetkin has an "amateurish" style and that is a perfect desription. he needs to adjust his gameplan and utilize his skillset more effectively. he is clearly more skilled than peter but doesn't fully utilize his gifts.
