Did you know compubox is two guys pressing buttons?

When punchstats was introduced in the olympics, the punches being counted would show on the TV screen.
We'd see handfuls of punches landed and none counted.

In the US, olympic punchstat scored boxing got so embarrasing, that the networks in charge of Olympic programming no longer show Olympic boxing in their broadcasts.

Now I'm certain that HBO's compubox has the capabiility to show the punches being counted on the screen as they happen live.

I dont wonder, I know they dont put them up on the screen to show the viewer, because they'd be embarrassed out of their mind to see all kinds of punches being counted that did'nt land, and punches not counted that did land.

There is a good reason that goons at HBO have'nt introduced live punch counts into their agenda driven boxing matches! yep

 

Sure did. Shitty result could be fixed if they reviewed fights b4 announcing results like the races... But that method presents its own problems.

 

I've tried to gauge Compubox myself, watching a handful of rounds from fights like Lewis-Holyfield I, Spinks vs Judah I, Morales Barrera III, and Micky Ward vs Emmanuel Augustus, and its shocking to see just how accurate these guys are. They were almost always within one or two punches of the totals I counted in slowmotion.

 

So they have the entirety of those fights in slow motion?

 

All this computer bull**** WAS THE WORSE things EVER introduced to the fight game. When they talk about a guy (like Bradley) "having no power" yet they count his 'power punches is the DUMBEST **** I ever heard. yet, so many people put faith in this ****.

 

That's why these numbers suck sometimes

I agree, they are actually fairly accurate.

People only claim conspiracy or incompotence when the stats tell a story they don't want to accept, as one poster pointed out these same people will defend the stats when its the story they want to hear.

 

compubox is based off sound recognition.....every time Pac pounds his fists together it tabs a few more power shots.....bang bang, bang bang bang:smoke

 

Yes everybody who has been around for a while should know this if they do not know this well that explains alot.

its simply an advance method of counting shots similar to the amateurs, the amateur judges all five use punch counters.
You can request to look at the score cards after every fight before the next bout starts and you will see a huge difference in shots landed on all the cards.

and these are judges who are on all sides of the ring, Compubox is two guys one side of the ring, and get this, they drink at the fights

CompuBox does not make judgement about "quality" or "effective" punching.

Your statement here is full ******! How do you know what Quality was there or not? I mean let me just ask you this explain to me why you think Manny shots had more quality?

Truth is Manny never really hurt Tim in that fight, but he often gets TOO MUCH credit simply because he is known as a puncher. So often fans assume that just because he is landing shots his shots are doing more damage.

No sir thats not always the case, Manny looked very different in that fight his shots did not seem to have the same steam on them as we have seen in the Margarito fight, The cotto fight or the Hatton fight.

Mannys shots looked alot different to me the night he fought Tim, Now this could be either an off night, His heart isnt in the sport anymore or he is coming down off of them damn steroids.

I suggest Tim had alot to do with it as well he limted Mannys best weapon for the most part. Tim did land just as good as Manny did, but because he is not known as a puncher somehow its okay to deny him the credit for his shots?

I dont think so, Clean effective punching does not mean you win in that area because your the harder puncher. Tim had enough on his shots that even with two flat Tires Manny knew better than to just try and steam roll him....
