Same here. I totally forgot about it. Not that it matters since really only casuals still consider him a good fighter...
Post WW Cotton had some of the biggest, most relevant fights of the decade. Not sure what you mean by that.
Nobody really cares that's why. His reputation is damaged now, it will take a fair bit of repairing because no matter who he fights he will always be reminded and asked about Golovkin.
still very young, has 10 years left. will fight and beat ggg in fall 2017 (i hope so) and has another 9 years of supers****om if he just fought ggg he would be respected... but when he pulled that **** in the ring and vacated the belt...
thats it right there, his next opponent Liam Smith said the same thing about how he totally made himself look bad by spouting off in the ring,he and Oscar knew that Kellerman was gonna push for an answer and Instead of telling Kellerman beforehand there's no way GGG is happening he brung up being a Mexican and even said he'd fight him at 160 right now, that sounds great as long you don't give your belt away just days later, good on the WBC for forcing that as Canelo had made himself mandatory and had already paid step aside fees,I'm going out on a limb in thinking that Canelo didn't know Oscar was gonna keep pulling the plug.
Ok guys I am a Mexican living in Mexico, not a chicano but a real Mexican We questioned Canelo for no steping up and figthing Golovkin but we also question Golovkin for no steping up and not figthing Zurdo, they both want easy figths, This is most of the mexican fans way of thinking.
Canelo should of just kept his word, fought GGG and take the L. Like we saw with Floyd, a 0 doesn't destroy Canelo. He could easily rebuild and adjust to 160 seriously then fight him again further down the line. FFs a Canelo-GGG trilogy would of made a load of money
Most UK fight fans don't even know about it - in fact, very few will have actually heard of Liam Smith since he fights exclusively on a dedicated boxing subscription channel. Smith's a decent fighter - although not on Canelo's level - but he has no name recognition even in his own country. No wonder it's gone under the radar. The fight only makes sense if you believe Canelo now intends to campaign as a junior-middleweight.
