Before we get all jazzed up about this performance. Didn't Floyd Mayweather shut out Marquez in their fight last year. I am just checking if people remember that. He didn't win 1 round. Granted their was a huge size difference. But everybody is still clamouring Marquez to fight Pacquiao again.

Not to harp on Marquez, I love the guy. He is an all time great. A warrior, and a legend. But for people to say we need a Pacquiao trilogy it is makes no sense. Unless of course it is at 140 pounds.

Allan Green is the man FMJ needs to meet in the ring, I agree. Wait, what was the topic? Oh, yeah. Vitali would DESTROY Pacquiao!

Marquez will only have a chance if Pac is fighting at a handicap. Something Mayweather cheated himself out of.

Even at 140 it's a horrendous mismatch. I'd rather see him destroy the winner of Bradley/Alexander or fight Berto.

Yes, well Mayweather completely outboxed JMM & showed that despite the size difference he was just a far superior technical fighter... which to me says something about the talent FMJ possesses.... but Floyd is Floyd & on his game (which he defo was that night) he does that, or close to that to any fighter in the world.

Floyd aside, Marquez doesnt get outclassed by anyone but at this stage you would be reaching to think he beats Pacquiao.

The size differense was the main factor in the fight. He was able to outbox Marquez because Marquez was not able to impose himself or his gameplan on the much bigger Mayweather. Floyd would not have been as sucessful at 135. Imagine marquez made Floyd come down to 135 to fight him, you still think Mayweather would shut him out? the idea that floyd is the most skilled and perfect fighter in the world is totally false. he is very good, but his commitment to not fight a physical fight gives the impression that he is more sound than he is. Marquez throws combinations that Mayweather wouldnt even attempt to throw if it meant trading punches. Marquez is more vulnerable than Floyd but only because of his approach and willingness to go toe to toe. Make no mistake, Juan Manuel Marquez is as skilled as Mayweather and a better all around fighter.

Not but hes better because he is a highly skilled fighter that gives the fans what they want every time out. He has more dimensions than Floyd in that respect. Look at all the truly great fighters of the past. Aside from being greatly skilled they would all put it all on the line. Great fighters make great fights. If every fighter in boxing had a safety first approach, boxing would have no fans. Thats not to say Floyd never shows grit, he does, just not like Marquez.

the weight really didn't matter against floyd... never at any point in the fight did floyd use his size to an advantage against marquez.... it wasn't like he was walking him down the entire fight or destroying him on the inside... floyd just out skilled him

would be the same results at anyweight

True. There are always going to be fighters who think like Floyd. Everyones got different motives for fighting, his just arent the kind that you usually see from great champions. I think of Floyd as incredibly talented, superbly skilled, one of the best to lace up even, but I just dont see him as a great champion. At least not by the way I define it. I know a lot of people see it differently.

JMM isn't fast like that to begin with, floyd is. No matter what the weight JMM would have had trouble locating floyd mayweather, its overall a terrible match up for him.
