i just thought it sucked as an option. have someone with a name move up, let him fight a big fight while not in his best physical form, then brag about it. should he fight a bigger fighter, say martinez, i'd give him tons of credit. i gave him credit for defeating shane albeit i thought shane was past his prime. not exclusive to floyd, same case for all the boxers nowadays i think. one loss and a fighter is quickly called a bum or overrated.
his defense is underrated if anything. i noticed he was taking a lot of punches off with his upper body movement against katsidis. he did the same against casamayor and diaz. he bobs and weaves very well. marquez is an amazing all around fighter. if u dont believe me, watch his fights against a certified all time great in manny pacquiao. every time manny wins, marquez's stock goes up. his heart is second to none.
I don't really recall Mayweather bragging about it too much. He said he could get better and gave Marquez his props but Maybe there's something out there that I'm unaware of. Too me it made perfect sense at the time because it was tuneup against a man who gave Pac two tough fights. I honestly believed that was why Mayweather agreed to the fight.
Ima say this, when it comes to technical skills marquez is better that floyd......just slightly. But if you take technical skills, speed, agility, footwork, etc, floyds in another league and thats why he shut marquez out.
For the millionth time, JMM and Pacman fought at 130. Floyd agreed to fight JMM at 144, but couldn't get lower than 146. People that know boxing should know that unless your a HW one pound, yes, one pound can make a world of a difference. Floyd had every advantage coming into this fight and then some. Just look at the Litzau-Caballero fight. THat's what happens when a very good fighter goes up 2 divisions and then doesn't look so good. JMM simply didn't have time to adjust to that higher weight.
Floyd is greater than Marquez but Marquez is better for the sport & fans. I'm a fan of both(starting to become a bigger Marquez bros fan) but Diaz-Marquez 1 & the Pac-Marquez fights **** on anything I've seen from Floyd. BTW, he fought a natural lightweight so I don't count that win much. He did beat Mosley which was a great win because despite age, Mosley is still dangerous.
I'v heard people say this B4 butI don't buy this for one second and no one has ever really given me a logical explanation was to why this would be the case. All of sudden once guys get 201+ suddenly size doesn't matter anymore. The laws of mass, and physics no longer apply?? So a 205lb man would not be at a disadvantage against a 250lb man simply because they're classified as HW's?
It's only one way to look at it guys.. A good big man always beats a good little man.. You guys saying size has nothing to do with it are either not thinking this through, or being emotionally biased.. Are you trying to tell me that a 160lb version of Floyd Mayweather who we just take and blow up a little taller, bigger , and stronger: somehow would lose to the 147lb Floyd??? Hell no.. When two similar fighting styles meet with not much to separate in terms of skill, the bigger man always wins.. Sure one guy has better defense, and the other guys has better offense, but it was enough extra each had in that department to negate advantages...
