He is, infact he would of won at Featherweight, but these things need to be said before people go off on these tangents of how easily he shut him down, how one sided it was, cause I dont think Marquez at his optimum weight, with an extra dimension in speed due to not lugging extra weight around, is not going to be so comprehensively dominated.

Basically that is what people don't get. Mayweather probably could beat Marquez H2H at any weight in their career, but still doesn't change that Mayweather is naturally a bigger guy. They could both have fought at 130, fight night Mayweather would come in a heavier guy, bigger frame, longer reach.

I think Mayweather is slightly more skilled, but at different things. Marquez fought all his prime years at 126 where he was the taller, longer, faster fighter. Twenty lbs north he brought no advantages to the table.

Plus styles make fights, so maybe Marquez has the Pacquiao puzzle figured out, where as Pacquiao has the Mayweather puzzle figured out.

Agree, no way to say Floyd doesn't beat Marquez at any weight.. But it's silly to say size didn't play a role in the shutout...

If anything, HBO 24/7 proved Marquez is old school running in the mountains, throwing rocks, drink ****, and eating raw eagle eggs. Marquez came in to top heavy, so even when he was throwing his counters the punches came in too slow. If he would have a nutritionist and a strength and conditioning trainer like Alex Ariza, he would have came up in weight a lot more balanced and with adequate speed.

Even at 135 his legs look like tooth picks. Pacquiao has tree trunks.

It's just speculation until the fight happens. Right now Pacquiao is the only fighter who has the ability to to it. Who ever is going to beat Mayweather needs to be fast and throw the odd punches that are hard to counter. Right now everyone is too slow and throws traditional punches.

I like this post. I think Floyd is greater though JMM has more willingness to fight the best, more willingness to fight period, more heart, and obviously the better offense. JMM always deals with adversity and usually looks good afterwards. The last time Floyd was in danger of losing(Castillo 1), he didn't show the heart to fight back and didn't make the fight sway more towards his side. I'm not saying he got a "gift" but I'm saying he didn't really show the heart to fight on in that fight torn rotator cuff or not.

I think Pac can land on Mayweather, just not sure can land consistently to knock Mayweather out if decides to offset Manny by moving, making him cut the ring down, and I dont think Manny's defense is good enough to win a decision over 12, he will get hit with cleaner punches whether he has success or not, which means even if it is competitive, his defense could conceivably lose him a decision. Only chance I see for Manny, is going for KO in a seek and destroy fashion from the opening bell where by Mayweather might not be into his rhythm and a little tight.

Marquez was simply out of his comfort zone! He was slow at that weight and even when he connected mayweather never even winced.

But the genius of gayweather is that he was the counterpuncher in a fight involving two counterpunchers. Jmm was the aggressor, the smaller man. Of course he will be spank! Mayweather has the reach advantage, the weight advantage, the age advantage, etc.

The least that I expected from gayweather was that he should have initiated the action and see how he can deal with a very good counterpuncher.

Agreed. Because perhaps a 'greater' fighter does not find himself 'getting off the floor' and giving up 2 point rounds in every championship caliber fight.

I don't subscribe at all to this theory. And believe me I love JMM. He's a awesome fighter and MANY people think he is the smartest boxer with the ability to adjust in the ring and think his way through a fight. But to say Mayweather is a lesser champion because we don't find him in the positions and situations some of these other guys fight out of shows a lack of appreciaton for the way he fights. If he can avoid punishment and put forth offensive dominance at the same time, then I would call that the greater champion. Someone who comes back from knockdowns or deficits in fight > than someone who never gets into those messes and yet still lights up his opponents offensively?? Don't think so.
The ONLY reason... i repeat the ONLY reason everyone wants to see Pacquiao fight Mayweather is to see if STYLISTICALLY he has a style that can finally place Floyd in these situations. Not because Pac is more skilled, more talented, more athletic etc.. because he is NONE of those.

JMM doesn't do well against runners. lol

ps. it didn't help marquez that mayweather was roughly 20 pounds over him that night

The fact is PBF BEAT JMM. Thus, PBF being the better fighter is a fact.
