Paul smith was not in the best condition for that banks fights. he looked fleshy. he never seemed to have the condition of a top champion boxer. He still won the fight and was the most impressive boxer in the tournament but his condition makes me really wonder. I am not sure what the reasons are. Maybe it was fighting over his limit. Personal problems. When he moved up to middle, Oscar de la Hoya looked fleshy against sturm and ripped against hopkins Smigga will be able to answer these questions if he is still using this board
I don't see any reason that he can't fight at middleweight, but he'd have to train properly. However, his bigger concern is his defense, if Banks had been a big puncher it would've been night, night. Either way, I like his additude and desire to bring it, I look forward to seeing him fight again...at middleweight.
Paul Smith is now a member of ESB. He is under the name Smigga. Thats what his Mrs was shouting during the fight. I do think Paul had a few pounds on him. He isn't a 168 pounder, he could be 160.
Apparently he is a middleweight, his last fight prior to the contender was at 159. Guess its kinda hard to turn down the chance to win 750k, hopefully he doesn't struggle with the 160 limit, he's better off there.
Smith was talking alot of **** while Banks basically played it off. It was a real comeuppance for Smith to go right at Banks only to get countered with those shots. Just keep your ****ing mouth shut next time and fight. It's difficult to score the fight in the show's format but from what I saw Banks won 3-2.
Smith didn't seem to train at all while on the show. In each episode he was "taking the day off" while the others sparred or trained. He may have been hurt or over confident.
It also seemed, at least by how the fight was edited, that Paul wasn't listening to his trainer and wasn't going to the body.
You hating on Smithy? Paul had a tougher opponent than Vera, stocky Mexican, Alexander or the white guy who fought Bika. They were all ****. Banks is a good fighter who gave Manfredo HELL not to mention has some ok wins. Plus given his pedigree has by far the most potential of the losers.
 I expected more of you achilles.:-( Just because I don't think he was the best man on the show or that he didn't put up the best performance doesn't mean that I'm hating on Smith. Smith even said himself that he let the fight against Banks become to personal and it wasn't that good a performance, and I respect him for that, he seems like a realistic guy. I don't think Banks was the best of the losing boxers, that was Alexander in my opinion, the KD against Soliman was bogus, he would still have lost though, but so would Banks if he had faced Soliman. I would place Banks as the second best of the bunch. Now let me ask you something, why do you even ask me whether I'm hating on Smith? I have never said he was a bad boxer or anything like that, I have said that I thought he was one of the four best boxers on the show on the other hand. I have also said, that I think he is better of at MW, but in my world that is not hating on somebody. I have tried to judge him by quality and ability and not nationality, perhaps you should try the same.
It wasn't a great performance but it was a good win. A better win than Vera, the short Mexican, Alexander etc They are all awful fighters. Alexander was a mess. That guy is WAY too passive. He got on the show cos he talks like he is a somebody. Hes Ahmed Kaddour I'm only messing about the hating though you do keep commenting on him. Smiths the best because he is British - I have always preached this atsch Smith isn't a super middle. He could be but with muscle not fat.
:huh turned pro as a super middle.......fought once or twice at middle......now when was he a light middle????:huh when he has diaria maybe???:huh
