He was a light middle amatuer but no way would he make that now. Looking at the ESPN video of Smith now, he doesn't look that fleshy. You don't have to ripped to shreds and draining your body for It to be natural at the weight.
Smith's agressive style rules! Awesome straights and handspeed too. Could see him winning British and European titles.
Fleshy? ...not really. But I did assume from his height & physique that he was fighting above his usual weight class. Now Miguel Hernandez? He looks fat at 168!
I keep commenting on him because he is an interesting boxer who could hopefully go places at MW in a couple of years if his chin holds up.
Yeah I couldn't stand Max Alexander from the start. That guy is the typical talk the talk/unable to walk the walk fighter. Soliman will give anyone fits but he looked slower than usual and beatable and Alexander acted like he didn't want to be in the ring. Spitting out the mouthpiece and all that crap. He's a stupid looking guy with his trunks up so high and his gangly body.
I had Paul Smith winning a close but clear decision. His shots were more hurtful IMO. He should fight at a lower weight.
Smith did get the worst draw, and no matter what you say, he lucked out to not have a L in his ledger, as it was a very close fight. Max Alexander is ****, and never will be, he might pad his record back up, but he's got no power, and at 168 you better have SOMETHING to back people off you, or you're going down hard. Banks could still have a future, he needs a real trainer though, as he's never had a good one in Portland. Smith is an overhyped British product, no surprise there though, ESB-ites love to overhype Brits, then claim Americans are worse at it.
Yous are worse at It. Miranda, Mayorga and Lacy were worse hyped. Were not hyping Smith yet, were just saying he's decent enough for a domestic title. By the way most Brits like Sucka are influenced by American fans.
Smith was lucky to get the decision. Condrigton strongly agreed with the judge that scored 49-46 for Banks.
