Why bother commenting on the thread then ? Its not a question about which sport is better , its about fans who now enjoy MMA having once not liked it.
Don Frye vs Takayama was just a WTF??? moment. These two grabbed each other around the neck and hockey punched each other for five minutes straight. Apparently places in Japan came to a standstill when they aired it live. As Frye said after the fight "I wouldn't have wanted his face afterwards".
Incredible display of testicular fortitude from both men. Takayama isn't doing too good now... He ended up almost completely paralyzed in a tragic wrestling accident last year. There's a Gofundme page up somewhere. The MMA community so far have supported him in droves, so we haven't forgotten the great show he gave us that night...
I know fighters that have been in the Ufc and they straight up can't fight Just know one or two leg locks and chokes
now MMA fight number 5 i have watched. its even worse than i remember its like a saturday night fight outside a pub
good job i dont have to pay to watch it. when i was in school one or 2 years ago playground fights like this were common with us boys all forming a circle around them egging them all until teachers came and broke it up now 36 years later kids most probably pull knives than have a fist fight.
Have never been able to get into MMA much although I will watch a high profile card from time to time, my biggest gripe, like most critics, is all the time spent on the ground wrestling. UFC has spawned 2 of the greatest villains/heels in combat history in Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, I love those guys. I was told PRIDE used to be where it was really at in MMA and this was largely down to the absence of doping rules. From what I heard the fighters back there and then were juicing to their (strained) little hearts were content, resulting in great action in the octagon/ring/cage whatever. Can any MMA geek tell me if PRIDE really did embrace (encourage?) PEDs and if so why it stopped if the shows were so well received?
