He was a good fighter and exciting. I like his commitment to boxing and his fighting spirit. A lot of heart. But I would say no to induction into the hall.
he was outclassed against casamayor and mayweather. the clottey loss shouldnt count in my book. corrales had no business fighting a few pounds above welterweight, a fight after fighting at lightweight. even in his fights against casamayor, he acquited himselv very, very well, and he did win once. he also knocked out an undefeated world champion in acelino freitas and roberto garcia, via knockout. he's also a two weight world champion. couple these accomplishments with his first fight with castillo, and his body of work will have an argument, albeit a small one, come voting time. I personally would be happy if he was inducted posthumously.
I dont hold him to that elite status of the 1st tier ATGs but he was still a damn good fighter, and when you look at some of the names in the HOF,Chico should definately make it.
Yes. The young death. The Castillo fights. Above all else his name is going to be remembered. Should he make it based on skill or achievement? Nah but Will he? Yea. Personally, I think he sucked and was an all around crappy guy. But he made sure we remembered him didn't he? Isn't that what the hall of FAME is about? It ain't called the hall of great fighters. I'd vote him in.
World Champion, resume filled with big names wins and losses and had some epic battles..why not?..there is lesser fighter in there.
McGuigan needs to be removed from the HOF, b/c I'm sick of hearing the argument "well...I mean, McGuigan's in there"
you're right. he wasn't outscored by casamayor. outpointed. those were great fights and chico was never dominated. I think we can both agree that mayweather outclassed him though.
Yeah, Mayweather was brilliant that night. Wish we could have saw Mayweather/Cassamayor. Would have been interesting IMo
