DIEGO CORRALES VS JUAN DIAZ, who wins?

Diaz would be a big threat and Chico would have his hands full. But if it's the Chico that showed up in Corrales/Castillo I, I think it'd be hard for Juan get out with a win. Chico wouldn't quit either unlike Popo and Julio.

I'm a big Juan fan and as a big of a combination puncher that Juan is, Chico was just as good a combination puncher on the inside. Plus, Chico had to power to swing entire fights around with a single hook and if Juan started trading punches with Chico on the inside, Juan would be in trouble. Someone coming straight at him while throwing a **** load of light punches would be right up Chico's alley imo.

Juan would need to pick his spots and keep Chico away from him with that jab he has.

I enjoyed the fight for about four rounds and from that point on I was both disappointed with and concerned for Julio. He did not bring to the ring what I expected, and I’m not just talking about his ability to stick-and-move and use his jab to set up power punches from the outside. I’m talking about his body language. Julio was somewhat listless from the get-go. I don’t want to take away from Juan’s excellent performance, but the 27-year-old Coachella, Cali resident had the look of a fighter that A) over-trained, and B) may have gotten old overnight. Knowing how much this fight meant to Julio, the adverse conditions he usually trains under (read: blazing heat), and the number of rounds of hard sparring he’s fought (yes, I wrote “fought”, not sparred) in the gym over the years, it would not surprise me if he were both over-trained and a bit of a spent bullet coming into Saturday’s unification showdown.

The Julio Diaz of about two years ago, I believe, would have put up a better fight and brought out even more hidden talent and ring generalship from Juan Diaz than we saw Saturday, and that’s what I was hoping for and expecting to see this past weekend. Instead, I saw a young veteran catch a one-sided beatdown like an old veteran, and all the credit must go to the victor, Juan Diaz.

 

Chico wouldn't quit though. Juan would have to win on a UD or stoppage from the ref.

That's the thing with Chico though. Juan might be whooping Chico's ass up until the point that he'd get knocked down or be put in big trouble. That's the way I'd see the fight going.

 

Hell no...now way in hell and earth does Juan Diaz ever ever stop chico. Juan would be perfect for chico. Coming str8 forward not wanting to take a backwards step punching in high volume. Chico would eat 3 to land 1 and his 1 would put juan flat on his back. Chico can take juans punches all night but juan cannot take what is coming back in return. Chico by KO mid rounds. Nobody, nobody ever came str8 at chico without getting the business. If chico can hang in there on the inside with Castillo he puts juan on his ass. Chico is one guy that has the style advantage over a swarmer like juan.

 

I can't help but see a huge hook from Chico landing in the middle of one of those big combinations that Juan likes to throw.

Looking at their fights with Freitas - Juan made Freitas quit after dominating him for the entire fight, Chico made Freitas quit even though Freitas was ahead in the fight!

 

Hell to the hell yeah. Chico got knocked down 99% of the time chasing guys around the ring like fast boxer types like Casa, Popo, Floyd. Dont get me wrong I like Juan, but those arm punch combinations coming forward on Chico where chico can plant and fire is disaster. Nobody fought Chico like that. Juan opens up too much and the fact that after he throws 4-5 punch combination he is still there. Chico would knock him across the ring like he did freitas when freitas stopped moving and tried to stand his ground.

A pre Castillo, Corrales I think could have took Diaz, maybe even stopping him. A post Castillo, Corrales, would have succombed to the pressure of Juan Diaz.
