Corrales. Bigger, stronger, more heart and more power.

I'm glad you said more heart. You're 100% correct. Corrales was the type who was willing to die in the ring. Diaz is not. He's a front runner, who folds up under pressure, esp when he sees his own blood.

Ive never understood the dislike for Diaz on ESB, Diaz is exciting and got a good head on his shoulders, and always comes to fight. Maybe if he slapped his wife around you guys would like him more.
That being said I think hes fading a little, and Diaz should not be fighting at 140. I think Diaz would play right into Corrales though after taking an early lead hed probably get Kod by Chico in 7.

Chico has every conceivable advantage, physical and mental.

Juan has made a believer out of me the last few years, couldn't stand him when HBO started to pump him up, and hated seeing what became of Popo...still, even having proven to be better than originally given credit for, he really has nothing to worry Diego.

Diego just beats the dog**** out of Diaz, hurts him repeatedly and knocks him the **** out. Not a competitive matchup.

This is ****ing ******ed. Diego was the equal of JLC, who gave PBF the fight of his life and won, in many people's eyes. Casamayor was an olympic gold medalist and a great fighter, and Diego only got his chin cracked by a JLC who didn't even TRY to make weight. ****ing Diaz is a tune-up at best. Diego 'not much better' than Diaz? He's two ****ing levels up from Diaz, at LEAST.

Why the hell does Diego get so underrated around here??? I don't understand it. I swear to God half the posters in this thread never saw him in anything more than a PBF youtube highlight clip.

    RIP Chico!!!

Diego Corrales VS Juan Diaz @ 2005?

this could have been an exciting lightweight matchup. IMO this fight will be a give-and-take fight considering Juan's pressure and Chico's power/heart. Chico then finishes BabyBull with a left hook, ending the fight at 6.

Corrales would ultimately bust Diaz up. Corrales may have been chinny but Diaz lacks the power of Castillo or the sharpness and quickness of Mayweather & Casamayor. Corrales was an excellent in-fighter, his combos were short and quick, he hit hard with both hands, and he was mentally tougher than Diaz. Diaz guts it out and keeps fighting when he's cut or struggling, but he gets discouraged and performs weaker. Corrales, well, do I even need to get into how well he can do when behind or with his face busted up?

It would be fun for a little while, but Corrales's much superior power would tell. Diaz wouldn't bother Corrales too much with his punches, while Corrales was one of the biggest hitters at 130-135 in recent years, and threw lots of short accurate shots when his opponent was in range (which Diaz likely will be). He'll land often as Diaz is no defensive whiz, nor is he exactly J.C. Chavez in punch resistance.

    Corrales in 6.
