Bad match up for Diaz who is at his best crowding and throwing volume. Corrales is one of the top offensive inside fighters at 135. He has fight changing one punch power. This is evidenced by the first Castillo-Corrales (absolutely brutal body shots and left hooks throughout the entire fight) plus the Manfredy and first Casamayor fight even though he lost. Diaz is giving up a lot of reach and would best get on the back foot and use the jab (like he did vs Katsidis). Diaz has a great gas tank but his defence is more of a shell rather than finesse parries and footwork this means he takes a lot of shots on the arms and shoulders and will be in range to be hit. I see Corrales wearing him down and being able to take Diaz's shots ending with a possible stoppage. Diego always took a lot of shots but it would be madness for Diaz to war like the first Marquez-Diaz or the Freitas fight. Corrales would spark him out real quick in that type of fight. Diaz was also out fought on the inside decisively vs Campbell and didn't react well at all to being cut. Corrales will test him and Diaz can't get into prolonged exchanges, Diaz was known for his combos and hit relatively light for his weight class.
Two of my favorite fighters growing up. Corrales' power ends the fight of the year candidate at some point.
