I'd take Corrales, Marquez while incredibly skilled has a habit of getting caught with shots that put him on his ass, mostly from Pacman but Corrales was more powerful so he would only need to catch him with one or two shots. Corrales TKO 10.
good point but on the flipside chico was succeptable to flash knockdowns himself&jmm is fast enough&accurate to catch him with counters plus hes a great finisher,i see it as a 50/50 fight&a great matchup in which id tentatively pick jmm by a sd,but i cant argue with your pick,it could go either way:good
Marquez is an excellent counter-puncher, but without constant movement Chico is much harder to control, and his boxing skills tend to get underrated because of his domination at the hands of Floyd. His footwork was his real flaw, and I really don't think Marquez is capable of exposing it like Floyd was. I'd expect a tactical affair with Marquez landing the cleaner shots early on before they got to mixing it up, and eventually Marquez (who is a hittable fighter, make no mistake) would be caught with something he couldn't stand up to, take further punishment, a few counts, and eventually be taken out of there. I'll give it 10 rounds. A decision is not impossible.
JMM wins this. I beleive he has the better skillset all round but was/is very comfortable at Super Featherweight, he'd drop Chico a couple of time on the way to a comfortable pts win.
Corrales was more powerful on what basis? Corrales also wasnt half as fast as Pac and I doubt he could catch JMM at all.
Chico hung around 130 for too long. Totally different beast at 135 by 2005 or so. Marquez at 130 but Chico at 135. Could go either way at 135.
He could outbox a prime Casamayor (notably better defensively and as a mover than Marquez) but wouldn't be able to catch JMM, who's proven to be a hittable fighter without the lateral movement neccessary to keep out of Chico's reach?
