this was being talked about in 2005 before Corrales officially made the move up to 140. A Corrales-Hatton fight has all the makings of an instant classic. When two fighters with the kind of grit and determination that Ricky and Diego posses meet, it's impossible to predict who will get the win. Hatton showcased a marvelous chin against Tszyu, proving he can take an elite punch. If Corrales-Hatton ever met, I would've expected action on the level of Gatti and Ward. As impossible as it is to pick a winner, this corner likes Corrales. After rising from two knockdowns in one round to stop a guy with the chin of Castillo, how can you pick against Diego?

Verdict: Diego "Chico" Corrales, Close Decision

I have no doubt in my mind that hatton would have won,
im leaning to a late stoppage aswell for the hitman.

Chico by KO. Too much mustard on his shots for Hatton's weak chin.

The fight not happening was Hattons fault I suppose? He should have boiled down to 135 after the Zoo win to take on Corrales in non title fight?

It didn't because Corrales never fought at junior welter, simple as. I suppose he could have fought at 140 rather than 147 if an offer to fight Hatton had been made, but I think he was damaged goods by that point anyway.

Had he moved up to take on Hatton earlier, I think Hatton's body attack would have brought him down. However, it would have been a very risky fight which he could easily lose and even if he did win the haters would just say something stupid like "oh he only beat a super featherweight" anyway.

Fought Kostya and Mayweather. Both better than Corrales.
And all three are better than Witter.

Though funnily enough I've always thought Witter had the beating of Hatton.
