Ruiz is pushing out a spray of jabs at various altitudes, none finding their mark as De La Hoya is too quick and controlling range too well.

De La Hoya is handling Ruiz much easier than Santa Cruz did.. although he needs to stop him in the next minute or two if he wants to match the official result.

 

Round 8

De La Hoya is executing snap-turns going left, making Ruiz just miss with the jab. Wide slapping rights at the backside from Ruiz, mostly brushing harmlessly off De La Hoya's thigh as he goes into a seated position while still pumping his legs. Directional changes by De La Hoya while crop-dusting with quick flurries.

So far he's dealing with the "adversity" well. No change in his gas tank or efficiency since the cut & swelling first appeared.

Round 9

De La Hoya is jogging side to side with his shoulders bouncing like a buxom lady's ****ies. De La Hoya is taking pot shots now, mostly singles, favoring the line drive lead right. Ruiz is pressuring intelligently, raising his elbows and crossing his arms on the way in, covered up nicely, doing everything right - just facing entirely too much of a speed deficit to put anything on De La Hoya.
