I also liked the fact that BJ will wear RVCA this saturday night even though Zuffa banned it. BJ doesn't give a ****
Is he really gonna wear it? Damn Maybe the UFC will feed him to GSP again just to give him an ass whooping! From here on out, fighters who break the rules will fight GSP or Anderson Silva as punishment :yep
I wouldn't be suprised if BJ & GSP fight again if BJ beats Diego. To be honest I have no interest at all watching BJ fight Maynard or Diaz. It will be VERY apparent that there is no lightweight that can beat him so BJ may as well jump back to 170.
I would only be interested if BJ really MOVES to the WW division and works his way up to a title shot. Give him Koscheck first, or swick or Hardy. Let him beat the **** out of a couple of WW contenders to prove he is actually on GSP's level at WW. Same goes for GSP at Middleweight. Just because he is elite at WW, does not mean he is at MW. Let him fight Belfort (Marqu and Hendo are out unfortunately), Wandy or a couple other middleweights to prove he can blow through them like he did WWs before feeding him to Anderson.
It would be classic if BJ finished him, and then started doing cartwheels around the cage while screaming YES!
Agreed. I think it's a little disrespectful to fighters that are already in the weight class for a fighter from below to just come up and get a title shot. How many fights did Marcus Davis win in a row before? I think it was in the double digits and he wasn't even in contention
Diego might have a mental melt down. i'm looking forward to this match-up i do expect an all out war.
In boxing there has always been a tradition that a champion from a lower weight class could make a direct challenge to the champion in the weight class above. The same tradition has carried on into MMA. A champion challenging a champion is acceptable - whereas a top contender moving up a weight class into an immediate title shot is not.
Hell even whatisname - Pete Radamacher - an olympic champion - was given a shot at the heavyweight championship of the world against Floyd Patterson in his very first pro fight!
BJ improved his cardio but gsp is just a beast and has probably has the best takedown in the ufc. He took down bj easily but i don't see diego doing that against bj. I think he will defend his takedown and when he is ready. He will take diego down and work his magic in the ground. Bj has better striking and better ground game. The only way i could see him losing this fight is if diego knock bj penn down and follow it up with a knee ALA joe riggs fight. I still got bj by rear naked choke.. hopefully diego doesn't tap out and goes to sleep.
