    Hey,
I would appreciate some help with my diet.
The training I will be doing is: starting strength, interval training and boxing)
I'm very overweight what sort of diet should I be following : to lose fat, perserve muscle(I

In the past I was used to the high protien diet as a bodybuilder.Should I stick to the same:

5 to 6 meals a day(high quality protein) low carbs and fat?
Are there any good sample diet plans i could start with?
    Thanks again guys:)

    If your looking to loose weight and train hard a good diet to consider is the caveman diet. Shane McGuigan (son of Barry) and Carl Frampton (McGuigan protege) are huge fans of this diet. The diet will reduce the fat content in your body and help you find your optimum weight;

    Looks like a good diet.

1 meal a day though on stage 2?

    Bit extreme.

Anything that suggests a 'detox' you can throw out then and there. When you lose weight you are going to lose some muscle, whether you like it or not. As you're losing weight make sure you do strength exercises to minimise muscle loss. Don't worry about getting lots of protein unless you do lots of endurance work. It's not easy to lose weight and improve athletically at the same time. If you're doing any sort of intense exercise you'll need to consume carbs. Personally I'd look at a periodised plan after you've lost the weight from sensible eating and moderate exercise.

This just in: I tried this diet.

I'm now 5'9" 122lbs, have an ulcer, the gout, and tend to faint or pass out several times throughout the day, especially during my workouts.

I say give it a shot!

Does anybody have any seroius advice on this forum.
Wether or not the caveman diet is a hoax or stupidity.
At least the person who put the idea forward offered something.
The rest of you just ***** about his idea and contribute nothing to the thread.

    Hey mate,

What's your current diet look like? (be honest)
If we know where you're starting from, it'd be easier to offer advice/improvements.

Having said that, eat natural, eat small, eat often. Avoid any processed foods.
Do not consume any calories in drinks i.e stick to water, green tea. UNLESS that drink is a meal replacement (protein shake etc.)

Personally I'd avoid any of these "diets" that are advertised. Most of them don't work because they are just crap, or you won't stick to it because it's too strict and/or not designed for you.

Pretty sure with some of the responses it was basically advice to NOT do the diet, thus helping you not to kill yourself. If everyone sat quiet without saying anything, you or someone else may have been dumb enough to try that diet and think you'd survive the workouts you plan to start.

With that rationale, if someone tells you to stop eating and do lots of cocaine to lose weight will you be happy because at least they 'offered something?'

That being said, MaxPower has given you good starting advice. You may have to tweak things, such as instead of your 5-6 meals being all small or same size, your body may work more efficiently with a bigger meal, smaller meal, bigger meal, etc.

Christian Bale did something like that and apparently he wasn't able to do a push-up after that.
It will destroy your muscles and its just a horrible idea.
I only ate salad's and carrots for a week. Felt really really good but then i crashed at the end. Never again. Used to be able to bench press 65 kg but after that it was barely 40.
