I eat a fairly well balanced diet. Lots of healthy meals, i dont snack or eat junk ect. I decided a while ago that a snack would be a good idea as an extra meal. Being as health concious as possible i thought nuts, blueberries and a bit of yogurt would be good.

Lately iv put on weight. Im training hard and its mostly due to that , im also 23 and think im just filling out more and becoming more muscular. But i want as clean a diet as possible so excuse the stupid questions

Now im not obsessive about fat content as i know some fats are good for you ect. However im concerned with my nuts :)lol:) they are very high in fat and iv just bought bags of mixed nuts unsalted.

Are there any specific type of nuts people know of that have "good" fats in them. Iv been having them every day and im wondering if it is what is just keeping my weight slightly higher than i want it.

Also any other health ideas for small snacks would be great also as anything gets boring.

Man this thread sounds stupid when i read it back lol!:lol

Eating too much is what's keeping your weight up, not the type of nuts.

nuts are good, i like lots of different kind of nuts.

But if you are looking to loose weight just remember they are very calorie dense, you can easily eat 1000 calories of nuts if you are just munching on them when youre hungry and not paying attention so it might be best to measure them out before hand.

If you're after omega-3 fats then you're probably looking for walnuts and flax seeds. They're good alternative sources for omega-3's if you don't prefer eating fish like salmon, mackerel, or sardines.

You can eat them by themselves as a snack. Or you can toast/grind them, and then sprinkle them on some roasted vegetables. Toss them with sauteed spinach or kale. Or add a teaspoon full to your fruit smoothies.

My favorite is to add them to oatmeal with some chopped up fruits and raisins, topped with yogurt. Yummy!

they are good in moderation, try to only have a few. I find that almonds are great for curbing hunger.

dont go mad on them, healthy fats are great in moderation and stay away from the salted nuts and get a variety of the healthy ones
